Fantasy Impact: The San Jose Sharks have acquired TJ Galiardi and Daniel Winnik (plus a seventh-round pick) from the Colorado Avalanche for Jamie McGinn, Michael Sgarbossa and Mike Connelly.

The Sharks get: a decent complimentary player in Galiardi who, if he plays on the right line, could top 60 points. Barring instant chemistry with a key player, do not expect this. Look for 50 coming from the third line. Winnik adds size, strength and checking ability – big upgrade to the fill-in players that they had there.
The Avs get: a complimentary third-line winger in McGinn who can chip in on the second line and score 20 goals. Sgarbossa is a high-scoring, undrafted junior player with some upside. Connolly is a small, undrafted, high-scoring former college star, also with some upside. Each of the latter two are longshots, but interesting that the Avs are willing to take a chance on them and see.
Fantasy Players Impacted: Galiardi’s value rises a little, but don’t expect miracles. The Sharks will use him on the third line, giving them three solid lines of scoring ability. Youngsters such as Mark Olver will fill in at forward on a full-time basis.
With Martin Havlat back in three weeks, Jamie McGinn may find himself down on the fourth line (McGinn part of deal), San Jose have much better depth now.
McGinn is probably moving sideways in terms of ice time and opportunity, though their may be an initial “post-trade” adrenalin rush.
