Canucks Bruins

Well it was a terrific ending to 2011, with a 5-1 week, just those pesky Islanders getting in the way of a perfect Saturday night.  Luckily I left that game off of my pro-line ticket. Thunder on the other hand had a week she’d like to forget only picking the Avs and Isles as winners, over Washington and Minnesota respectively, which is still gutsy in my book. Here’s a look at the matchups I like for this upcoming Saturday.  I stayed away from the Bruins Canucks rematch, even though the B’s have won 9 of their last 10 while scoring 49 goals in the process. Lots of early NHL action as Bettman is worried about Wild Card weekend in the NFL (Go Niners!!! Oh wait, that’s next weekend).  Let’s get it on:

Midseason Guide now posted. Enjoy!   If you bought the GOLD package, my apologies - I assigned last year's midseason guide to it instead of today's. I fixed the issue, albeit 5 hours later (couldn't figure out was wrong until now - duh).   Also - I re-issued this month's rankings at 4pm ET [...]

At the beginning of each season there are a few players who produce above their ability. Poolies have to decide whether or not that player is for real or simply on a hot streak. There are currently a handful of players who have been performing beyond expectations, some since the beginning of the season and others who may just be on the aforementioned hot streak. Who is real and who is not? I will discuss who can keep it up and whether or not these players can be of value in a salary cap league.

News to no one, but Boston is so deep and so talented up front. They had 10 forwards with points yesterday against the Devils. No forward played less than 10 minutes (Thornton) and no forward played more than 17 (Peverley and Marchand). Impressive stuff.   Larsson and Tallinder were a combined minus-8 for the [...]

DR. GREGG’S PROSPECT PRESCRIPTION: Mark Stone

Special mid-week edition of Prospect Prescription - we talk to Cory Clouston re: Mark Stone of Team Canada.

After scoring in each of Canada's first four games at the 2012 World Junior Championship – and leading the team with seven in the tournament – Mark Stone failed to find the back of the net in the home country's heartbreaking semifinal loss to the Russian Machine last night.

Link fixed.   FREE - Last year's Midseason Guide. I think the midseason edition is just as helpful as the preseason one and to prove it to you I want you to look at what we did last year. The information that it gives - prospects, half-season projections, tidbits, trends, college free agents, KHL [...]

Pending release of the MidSeason Guide later this week, I thought it would be a great idea to take a look back at thePre-Season guide and see where I stand in comparison to four months ago. It’s always good to take a look back atpast mistakes to help us prepare for the future. Plus it will give an insight to those who haven’t seen the content of theDobberHockey guides first hand.

Jaromir Jagr is out 7-10 days with a mild groin strain.   Still awaiting word on Mike Smith. Apparently, there is a chance he starts tonight. Nobody will have this news before Goalie Post, so you GP members will get that heads up as soon as the coach makes the call.   The Leafs [...]

Preparing for a Classic

Greetings from Philadelphia! It was just two days ago that we saw legends from both the Philadelphia Flyers and the New York Rangers take the ice. Eric Lindros was welcomed back to Philadelphia with style skating with Bobby Clarke, and Bernie Parent received a standing ovation for his five-minute performance. Mark Messier and Brian Leetch reminded us how talented they are, and  Glenn Anderson scored the lone goal for the blue shirts.
