Between the Lines – Eberle, Atkinson, Lupul and more

Looking at this week’s hottest line combos around the NHL…

While some fantasy owners start their quest this week, some others are battling for seeding or a playoff spot at this juncture. It also seems some new line combination made their way to the top of the list in Week 10. The time is now to go "Between The Lines" for some more trio fun.

Forward March……

Jordan EberleTaylor HallRyan Nugent-Hopkins (Edmonton) — Hey! These guys were supposed to do this all season but in Week 10 (or rather – one period against Vancouver), it clicked! Taylor Hall had a hat trick in just one period against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday. Eberle is starting to look like the Eberle of last season and if Ryan Nugent-Hopkins can just stay healthy, this line has a chance to parlay a strong April for fantasy owners. If  "The Nuge" gets anywhere near seven points again this week, I'd be shocked however.

Artem AnisimovCam AtkinsonMatt Calvert (Columbus) — Wait! Columbus is represented here? Yes they are with a trio that tallied 15 points this week. The New York Rangers probably miss Anisimov something fierce right now especially after a six point week. The key on this line is Cam Atkinson, who is apparently – finally – 100% after a troublesome ankle injury. Atkinson does have to bulk up some but this line has ignited so many scoring chances this week. Will it continue into Week 11? Maybe.

Boyd GordonRobert KlinkhammerDavid Moss (Phoenix) — This unlikely line cranked it out for a total of 12 points this week when playing together. Their frequency is an amazing 31.2% when together but only Moss and Gordon saw a fringe amount of power play time (4 on 3 situation). Honestly this is a gritty third line on most teams but they do see second line even strength time. Whatever they are doing, it is working. Yes the outburst against Nashville was helpful so do hedge your expectations in Week 11.

Taylor BeckDavid LegwandGabriel Bourque (Nashville) — Part of this was the 7-4 loss between the Coyotes and Predators but this line did create a little more offensively than they were given credit for in their ten point week. Does anyone expect them to continue this? The answer is not likely but I do like the way Bourque and Legwand play together. I still believe Patric Hornqvist is a guy that could be the missing piece. Hornqvist can fire a lot of shots on net for guys like Legwand and Bourque to clean up. Week 11 may see this line take shape.

Tyler BozakPhil KesselJoffrey Lupul (Toronto) — Lupul came back from injury and it is like a nightclub party that seems never to end. Look at what the winger did in his first full week back with five goals and four assists. He created life in Tyler Bozak, who had five points and Phil Kessel felt the effect a little with four points. Nazem Kadri also continued his surge with six points while playing about a ¼ of the time together with Lupul (the duo was reunited in Saturday’s game). It is a weird setup in Toronto but they are this close to making the playoffs for the first time in a long time.

Lead Us Defenders…..

Jared SpurgeonRyan Suter (Minnesota) — Say it with me. Jared Spurgeon led defensemen with five points in Week 10. Ryan Suter only had four. They combined for seven points while on the ice at the same time though if it felt like Suter played a ton, he did (27:54 ATOI). In some ways, Suter should be producing and he has been but now Spurgeon got into the act for now. Next week, it could be Jonas Brodin again so keep an eye on this developing situation.

P.K. SubbanAndrei Markov (Montreal) — Subban and Markov only get paired on the power play and they see nearly ¾ of the time together but despite an off week, they still had four points as a duo. Subban had five points this week while Markov took a bit of a defensive beating yet totaled three. By the way P.K. Subban is approaching a point a game pace with 27 points in just 28 games. It looks very much like #76 is on his way to a Norris nomination. He is what stirs the drink. Markov would not be the same without his power play time with Subban but Week 11 and beyond will tell that tale.

Duncan KeithBrent Seabrook (Chicago) — They had six points on the week together in Week 10 and Keith was the offensive anchor with five of those points. Is Keith and Seabrook the offensive duo back? I am not sure. What I can tell you is I would like to see more in Week 11.

As always you can follow @ChrisWasselTHW and fire away those questions. Good luck this week.
