With seven points in his last five games, Matt Carle's numbers have shot up to a level that is fairly close to our preseason expectations. It's playoff hockey in some fantasy leagues, so this surge is timely. S/T to Ken in the comments below.   *   Love the comments, as they often inform [...]

Could the Canucks move Schneider and keep Luongo?

Could the Canucks move Schneider and keep Luongo?

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. That’s a classic proverb that I’m sure Vancouver Canucks general manager Mike Gillis doesn’t want to hear at the moment. The trade deadline came and went and Roberto Luongo remains a Vancouver Canuck. It’s certainly not for lack of effort on Gillis’ part who has been trying to deal Luongo for what is quickly closing in on a calendar year.

Campkin takes an in-depth look at Derek Stepan... and why he's kicking ass

At the beginning of this shortened season, I wrote a piece on Mike Ribeiro and outlined how he was a guy that I targeted in my keeper league because my team (The Campkin Cartel) needed a center and was short on assists, powerplay points and hits. Needless to say Ribeiro has been a homerun for my team, but there is actually another center who I drafted early that is doing even more for the Cartel, so I decided to make him the latest Geek of the Week: Derek Stepan.

They had a slow start to the season, but the LA Kings are still the class of the league. No club in the NHL sports better possession metrics than LA and Jonathan Quick is slowing beginning to round back into form. Two guys who have begun to find the net more often for Los Angeles [...]

A look at Danny Kriston, Nick Bjugstad, and Jacob Trouba.

This week I take a break from looking at players who will be drafted in a few months. Instead, I'll take a closer look at three great young prospects who recently signed contracts this week after the completion of the NCAA season. Of course, the focus will be on what fantasy owners should expect this season and next.

Andrew Schopp takes a closer look at five prospects who changed teams at the trade deadline.

At 2:10 EST and with 50 to minutes to go, the 2013 edition of NHL trade deadline day was becoming a forgettable piece of NHL history. Then, NHL GMs went full tilt in the final hour with a flurry of trades; shipping all-stars, captains and a slew of promising prospects across the league. When it was all said and done, the Sabres began the rebuild process, the Blue Jackets look more like a playoff team, and a number of prospects found themselves on the fantasy radar. These five prospects dealt prior to the April 3 NHL trade deadline could make an impact soon.

  *   Don't forget to check out DobberBaseball - I used the draft guide thoroughly this year, as it was my first year in about 10 years playing fantasy baseball. The Kershawshank Redemption is off to a great start in 2013 (in case you were wondering).   *   Brandon Pirri (Chicago prospect) had [...]

Marty Kwiaton gives you his picks for Saturday's best NHL games.

Feeling the time crunch this week, so we’re going to skip all the fluff in the introduction and get right to it. On the surface, there look to be a number of "slam-dunk" picks this weekend. We will see what happens on the ice, though....
