Just to update the below with a few things – it turns out that Dubinsky will not have a hearing after all. Suspension avoided.
Also, Nieto it turns out has a hand injury and was not a healthy scratch (thanks to the commenter below for that one). And another commenter pointed out that Hertl actually scored his second goal since notching four in a game – and not his first.

With Pekka Rinne sidelined for at least four weeks (and I have a hunch it will stretch into five or six – infections are so unpredictable, remember Joffrey Lupul), and Carter Hutton getting rocked Saturday night, the Magnus Hellberg watch is on. I drafted Hellberg in one of my keepers (the deepest one) as a No.5 goalie.
And my other dark horse No.3 goalie for this year, Richard Bachman, was called up by the Oilers Sunday. I recommended 10 days ago in my Puck Daddy piece that you claim him and stash him on your bench for a few weeks. Did you laugh or do it? He got the nod for the Oilers yesterday and was peppered with 48 shots! He stopped 47 of them. If you didn’t grab him before, do so now. If you need a goalie, maybe he could help. If you don’t need a goalie, maybe he will do well and you can hold him for ransom to the highest bidder (because someone in your league definitely needs a goalie badly).
Mark Arcobello has gone three games without a point now, hitting his first NHL slump. He did see 22 minutes of ice time Sunday though.

Drance recommended keeping an eye on Eric Gelinas, a defenseman for the Devils, and I think he was right to do so. But with Bryce Salvador returning, the Devils were forced to send Gelinas back to the minors yesterday. Gelinas and Adam Larsson are the only guys who could be sent down without waivers. Why they don’t give Larsson some ice time in the AHL for a few weeks is beyond me.

Eight panelists from DobberProspects ranked the NHL organizations in terms of their fantasy hockey prospects. Teams 1-15 can be found here.

Martin Hanzal, who is having a career season so far, will have this hit looked at by the NHL. Suspendable? If so, Hanzal has horrible luck – if it’s not injury it’s suspension:
*
And the NHL will also look at this Brandon Dubinsky hit on Saku Koivu. Koivu left the game. This one is probably going to get Dubinsky five games in my opinion:

I would like to apologize to Nathan MacKinnon. Nathan, I’m sorry for cursing you. When I said that you were the most (seemingly) consistent rookie in terms of production, you haven’t had a point since. Five games without a point now for MacKinnon. Yesterday his linemate Jamie McGinn was a last minute scratch due to an undisclosed injury.
*
Blake Wheeler is heating up with four points in his last four games after having just four in nine.
Meanwhile, the Jets are still giving Devin Setoguchi all the PP time he wants. Over four minutes of it Sunday, and he still rewards them with zilch. At this point in the league I own him in, I’m shopping him like crazy.
*
Tomas Hertl scored Sunday, snapping a three-game pointless drought. That was his first goal since scoring four on October 8. He has four points in nine games since then.
Alex Stalock had made three NHL appearances, but yesterday was his first NHL start. He stopped 38 of 40 shots. After a game like that, perhaps Niemi’s workload will ease.
It looks like Matt Nieto was a healthy scratch. He was pointless in four games, but still – with Brent Burns sidelined, you’d think Nieto plays. In Nieto’s last game, he fired seven shots on goal. And getting into the lineup won’t be any easier when Martin Havlat returns. He’s due in about a week.
*
Erik Karlsson had two points and nine shots on goal that game (against the Sharks).
So far Craig Anderson gets a game off after three starts. So it looks like Robin Lehner gets the next one.
*
It’s looking as though Tyler Bozak‘s lower-body injury will keep him out for at least a week, possibly two. So Kadri on the big line will continue for awhile.

I just had it pointed out to me that in the Fantasy Guide I projected Patrick Maroon for 20 points in 21 games. Uh, no. That was a typo. The point total was correct, but I had him for 71 games and the formula did not copy over. I know it’s too little too late, but the OCD guy in me had to fix it. So the Guide and Draft List have that change in it. He’s back playing with Getzlaf and Perry and has points in four of the last five games that he’s played. Sunday he was shut out, but saw 17:45 of ice time, which is a career high. I think he’s worth grabbing, I’m seeing Dustin Penner circa 2006-07 when he was a surprise 45-point player. Not saying Maroon gets that (I’ll stick with my 21 points for now), I’m just saying he’s being used in a pretty great role and he ‘could’ get it.
Here were Anaheim’s line combos Sunday with Jakob Silfverberg on the shelf for a month and Mathieu Perreault out day-to-day:

My man Cam Atkinson has just one point in his last six games. In a couple of those games he was one of the best skaters on the ice, but close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. He’s gotta start scoring. At least he’s shooting the puck – 39 shots on goal in his last nine games.
His teammate Artem Anisimov has six points in his last six games.
*
Radko Gudas, everyone’s favorite multi-cat dark horse, had the game we were waiting for on Sunday – a goal (on the power play), four shots and 22 PIM.
*
Nail Yakupov scored Edmonton’s only goal and saw over 20 minutes of ice time. This is his chance to show what he can do, while Taylor Hall is sidelined. But in four games with decent ice time he has just two points. Granted, it would help if the rest of the team would score too.
