Winnipeg defenseman Dustin Byfuglien has been on an impressive streak lately and now has four multi-point games in his last six contests, with nine points over that stretch. Byfuglien had two helpers on Monday night to power the Jets to a victory over the Devils. This run is encouraging because he hadn't had more than a single point in a game since opening night before this stretch. The Jets seem to be leaning on Byfuglien and Tobias Enstrom heavily, especially with Zach Bogosian out of the lineup. Both defensemen played over 24 minutes, and only one other Jet, Evander Kane, cracked the 20 minute mark.

Adam Henrique has found himself in a bit of a rut for the Devils. He's managed just one point in his last seven games after being held off the score sheet versus Winnipeg. The more concerning thing for Henrique may be his shots on goal. Struggling to find the net is one thing, but Henrique hasn't recorded a shot in four of the last seven contests.

Tyler Bozak made his return to the Leafs lineup as the Blue Jackets embarrassed Toronto 6-0. James Reimer got roughed up for six goals on 21 shots after having a spectacular performance against Washington on Saturday.

 

Something to keep an eye on from this one was the fact that Joffrey Lupul left the game with what was called a groin injury. That guy just can't stay healthy.

Columbus had an impressive performance despite missing both Marian Gaborik and Brandon Dubinsky because of injuries. It's easy to forget that they are still without Nathan Horton as well, so the Blue Jackets are a team that could make some noise when they get healthy.

 

Sergei Bobrovsky picked up his first shutout of the season but needed just 18 saves to do it.

 

The Jackets were led by a couple of youngsters that could be available in your league. Ryan Murray grabbed a goal and an assist, while going plus-3 and adding three blocked shots. He's still a work in progress but has played over 20 minutes in three straight games now. Columbus looks to be trusting him more slowly but surely.

 

Ryan Johansen chipped in with two goals and a helper to go along with five shots. He's battled consistency issues during his brief career, but he's had some solid performances in 2013-14. He just needs to string a few of them together to receive more ice-time.

Much like Columbus, the Bruins were aided by some youngsters on Monday night. Carl Soderberg recorded two assists against the Pens and now has six points in five games. He'd be a decent addition to your roster right now and his ice-time is up significantly from where it was in October.

 

Reilly Smith also added a goal and now has five points in five games and Loui Eriksson ended a three-game pointless drought in style with a three-point night.

Despite the loss to Boston, Pittsburgh should be encouraged about the play of James Neal. He notched a goal and two assists to give him nine points in four games. He also played over 20 minutes which was a season-high.

 

Kris Letang, on the other hand, is still having issues. Letang has now gone six games without a point and played less than a minute against the Bruins with the man advantage. Granted, the Pens had just the one power play, but in recent games Paul Martin has looked to be given an extra shift over Letang in those situations here and there.

 

Pens forward Beau Bennett will be out 8-10 weeks after having surgery on his wrist.

Ben Bishop continues to prove his value this season with a 5-0 shutout over the Rangers on Monday. Bishop has now stopped 78 of his last 79 shots.

 

Martin St. Louis and Teddy Purcell each had two goals and an assist against New York. St. Louis doesn't appear to be missing Steven Stamkos all that much as he's tallied eight points in seven games with Stamkos out of the lineup.

 

Nikita Kucherov scored in his first NHL game, in his first shift, on his first shot.

Brad Richards' hot streak is over. He is pointless in five straight and has gone minus-5 over that span.

Wayne Simmonds is turning it on all of a sudden. He had a goal and five shots against the Panthers Monday. Simmonds now has seven points in his last seven games and had 3:23 of power play time, which is a great sign.

Tim Thomas seems to be finding his groove at the moment. Four out of his last five starts have been excellent and he stopped 38-of-39 shots against Philly.

 

Sean Bergenheim scored twice for Florida and has three points in his last two contests. In those two games he's been up around the 15 minute mark, which is interesting because he hadn't even seen 10 minutes of ice since November 5^th. Might be an interesting short-term option.

St. Louis shutout the Wild and that's now three straight really good outings for Jaroslav Halak. Brian Elliott is going to have his work cut out for him to earn minutes barring an injury to Halak.

 

Carlo Colaiacovo played his first game of the season in place of Kevin Shattenkirk who was out with the flu. Colaiacovo's iron man streak is now at one game and counting.

 

Alex Steen scored two goals. This isn't a recording.

Zach Parise looked to injure his foot while blocking a shot in Monday's game. He was able to stay in the game though but it appeared he was hurting.

Mike Ribeiro was held scoreless and went minus-3 against Nashville. Ribeiro was in the midst of a six points in five games stretch, so let's see if this derails his momentum.

Martin Hanzal picked up an assist and a season-high six shots. He's been sensational this year.

 

Shane Doan left this one with a lower-body injury and didn't return.

Shea Weber had a goal, four shots, eight hits, and three blocks on Monday after going without a point in his last two.

Weird thing about this game is that the Preds didn't have a single power play opportunity. So don't panic if it looks like someone on your squad received no power play time Monday, because nobody did in Nashville.

Ilya Bryzgalov made his first appearance for the Oilers after Devan Dubnyk gave up for goals against Chicago. He stopped 12-of-13 shots and figures to get a handful of starts to see what he can bring to the table.

 

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins picked up an assist in a losing cause and now has six points in three games.

 

David Perron saw his three-game point streak snapped.

Andrew Shaw had two goals and an assist for Chicago. Shaw's got 10 shots over his last three games and also saw nearly four minutes of power play time against the Oilers.

 

Brandon Saad grabbed two assists and now has six points in his last five outings.

 

Duncan Keith also added two assists is in the middle of a five points in four game streak. He's played nearly 25 minutes in Chicago's last two contests.

Ben Scrivens continues to be unreal playing for the injured Jonathan Quick. He stopped 37 shots in a 3-2 win over Vancouver on Monday.

 

Mike Richards picked up a point for the first time in three games and Drew Doughty was held off the score sheet for the third consecutive contest.

Ryan Kesler was pointless but picked up seven shots for the Canucks, who have now lost 7-of-8 games.

Pavel Datsyuk is feeling better after taking a hit on Saturday according to Mike Babcock, and has a chance to play Wednesday.

Martin Erat has asked for a trade from Washington. Things just haven't worked out for him there and maybe a change of scenery will do him some good.
