Checking in with the latest injury updates…

 

As a hardcore Detroit Red Wings fan I am getting tired of writing multiple injury updates regarding the Wings. Here is more injury updates.

 

EASTERN CONFERENCE

 

Adam McQuaid (leg) is still listed day-to-day and the Boston Bruins are not given any progress update.


Drew Stafford (upper body) worked with Buffalo Sabres assistant coaches on ice and is unlikely to play Thursday.


Cam Ward (lower body) has been activated off IR and assigned to Charlotte (AHL) for a conditioning stint.

 


David Savard (illness) will miss his fourth straight game for the Columbus Blue Jackets due to an illness.


Blake Comeau (knee) will not play Thursday after tweaking his knee on Tuesday; he is saying its nothing major.


Marian Gaborik (clavicle) acknowledges that Olympics might not happen.


Johan Franzen (concussion) will miss the Olympics.


Henrik Zetterberg (back) is likely to return to the line-up on Friday.


Pavel Datsyuk (lower body) practiced on Thursday but will not play on Friday.


Stephen Weiss (groin) skated with the Red Wings on Thursday.


Shawn Matthias (illness) is questionable for Thursday.


Aleksander Barkov (knee) has been retroactively placed on IR but remains on track for the Olympics; he may return Saturday.


Davis Drewiske (shoulder) skated with the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday wearing a non-contact jersey.


Travis Hamonic (concussion) has been placed on IR.


Chris Phillips (undisclosed) missed morning skate and will be evaluated on Friday to see if he will go on road trip.


Mark Stone (upper body) joined the Ottawa Senators for practice on Wednesday wearing a non-contact jersey. He said he is not quite comfortable yet and taking it day by day.


Zac Rinaldo (ankle) has been activated off IR and will play Thursday.


Tomas Vokoun (pelvis) took shots from teammates after Pittsburgh Penguins practice on Tuesday but won't speak with reporters until he is in a regular practice.


Steven Stamkos (leg) practiced in Ottawa on Thursday. He took part in most of the drills, sat out of the power play practice but stay on the ice for an extended session with the Tampa Bay Lightning's scratches.

David Clarkson (elbow) is getting close to a return and is expected to make the road trip next week.


Trevor Smith (hand) has recovered from his hand injury but injured himself in the weigh room.


Dave Bolland (ankle) has a 50-50 chance of playing before the Olympics.


Mikhail Grabovski (ankle) is questionable for Thursday's game.


Jack Hillen (knee) skated with his Washington Capitals teammates over the past few days for the first time since breaking his leg back in October. No timetable for return.


WESTERN CONFERENCE


Michael Cammalleri (concussion) will be back on the ice with the Calgary Flames on Thursday.


Matt Hendricks (head) left the Edmonton Oilers game Wednesday night after being KO'd by Mike Brown. No further update yet.


Andrew Ference (head) is targeting a return on Saturday in Boston against the Bruins.


Josh Harding (illness) is frustrated and wants to get back in the net; according to Minnesota Wild head coach Mike Yeo, who is hoping to get him back soon.


Mikko Koivu (ankle) may not make it back in the line-up before the Olympic break; according to coach Yeo.


Jared Spurgeon (foot) skated with Wild teammates and is getting close to a return but no line-up changes for Thursday. Plan is for him to practice on Friday with full contact with a chance to play on Saturday.


Shea Weber (upper body) missed practice on Thursday and is day-to-day.


Viktor Stalberg (upper body) and Matt Cullen (upper body) have missed last two games and are day-to-day.


Pekka Rinne (hip) could be headed to Milwaukee (AHL) for a conditioning stint.


Tyler Kennedy (undisclosed) left Wednesday's game with an undisclosed injury, no other details yet.


Logan Couture (hand) is close after undergoing surgery on his hand.


Raffi Torres (knee) could return before the Olympics.


Henrik Sedin (ribs) is day-to-day and the Vancouver Canucks hope he can return at some point during this five game road trip.


Mike Santorelli (arm) had shoulder surgery and will miss the rest of the season as recovery takes five to six months.


Kevin Bieksa (undisclosed) is out until after the Olympic break with an undisclosed injury.


Evander Kane (hand) will be out of the Winnipeg Jets lineup until after the Olympics.
