The fantasy impact of the Flames signing Devin Setoguchi

Fantasy Impact: The Calgary Flames signed forward Devin Setoguchi to a one-year contract worth a reported $750,000.

The Flames get: A depth forward who is far removed from being a 20-30 goal scorer. Setoguchi had some solid seasons with the Sharks and even had 31 goals one year, but it was clear once he left the friendly confines of that stacked roster his production wasn't going to be anywhere near what it was in San Jose.

Fantasy players impacted: Even in Calgary, Setoguchi is probably looking at a third-line role. This means it's going to hurt depth guys like Brandon Bollig and Brian McGrattan somewhat and Setogichi's veteran pedigree should challenge a youngster like Johnny Gaudreau.

Gaudreau will probably get a featured role offensively for the Flames this season, but having someone who has shown he can score goals at the NHL level is always something to think about for a prospect trying to make a name for himself. Setoguchi could eat into some of his power play time.

Fantasy players this helps, in order:

Setoguchi

Colborne

Fantasy players this hurts, in order:

McGrattan

Bollig

Gaudreau
