Gelinas re-signs, Honka impresses, Kane hasn't peaked, Morin learning from Pronger and more…
The Devils have re-signed Eric Gelinas to a one-year deal. Looks like it's a one-way contract, which makes him a lot more attractive. He's still a depth fantasy option but this should keep him on your radar.
There's still a chance that Tomas Kaberle (who is on a tryout with the team) steals his job but he's going to have to do A LOT to knock Gelinas off now that Gelinas has a contract. You might also see Adam Larsson finally develop and earn those power play minutes but that seems like a long shot. Larsson appears lost in the woods from a development standpoint.
So look for Gelinas to be a second power play unit guy with a shot 40 points this season but more likely 30.
If you really want to own a Devil blue liner, make Marek Zidlicky your choice. He's a good option for points and does a decent job of producing in multi-category pools as well.
Last week I mentioned John Klingberg as a deep sleeper type option for the Stars defense. Another guy to look at is their 2014 first rounder Julius Honka.
I doubt we see Honka this year but he is impressing at rookie camp and appears to be the long term solution. You have to be dubious of "long term solutions" that aren't ready yet as they so often wind up road blocked or derailed at some point in their development but I'm high on Honka.

Ray Whitney is at peace with the idea of retirement, which is good because that seems to be where he is heading. At least we got a couple of great final years out of him. Obviously last year wasn't so hot and that's why he's facing retirement but he scored at damn near a point-per-game pace over his two previous seasons.
