Saturday’s NHL Picks – Best Odds for Nov 26

Coretti

2016-11-26

It's been a great year, but last week was a poor one for Coretti. Here is his attempt to rebound!

Last weekend my hot run came to a screeching halt as I went 3-3. I have been very ill with the flu over the past few days hence why this piece is being released later than usual. My apologies. However, there are no afternoon games for today so you should be able to get your hands on all these plays. The analysis for each game will be shorter than usual for today, time to get back on track.

Record: 24 – 6

Carolina @ Ottawa (7pm ET)

The Senators have looked pretty good in their last two games as they beat both the Bruins and Canadiens. More importantly it seems like Mark Stone has come alive with four points in those two games. Craig Anderson has also played quite well for Ottawa and he will get the call tonight. The Hurricanes have been on a rampage as they had a five-game winning streak snapped on Thursday night against the Canadiens. Both teams seem to be playing some great hockey at the moment but I have to go with the Senators at home with a hot Mark Stone. Give me the Sens.

Key Stat: Home team is 24-7 in the last 31 meetings.

Pick: Ottawa – Home Team Win – H

New Jersey @ Pittsburgh (7pm ET)

There seems to be a pattern here. Marc-Andre Fleury plays, the Pens lose. Matt Murray plays, the Pens win. Fleury has allowed a whopping 16 goals in his last four games for Pittsburgh. Whereas Murray has allowed only six in his last four games. I don’t think Murray is that much better but the numbers are quite staggering and things are looking very bad for Fleury owners. That said, Murray is projected to start tonight against the Devils. With Matt in the crease I think the Pens will rebound from the 6-2 beat down they took at the hands of the Wild yesterday. Cory Schneider has been abysmal over his last four games as he has allowed a staggering 15 goals. Schneider actually has a GAA of 2.53 and a .915 SV% on the season which is not very Schneider like. The Pens should get to Schneider tonight as they will rebound behind the man, Matt Murray.

Key Stat: Home team is 22-6 in the last 28 meetings.

Pick: Pittsburgh – Home Team Win – H

Washington @ Toronto (7pm ET)

I am a notorious Leafs hater. However, I must say things are looking bright for the Leafs. I could actually turn the game on and watch them for more than a period now with all the young talent that they got. But there is another guy that I can watch for endless hours because of his sheer explosiveness and power and that guy is Alex Ovechkin. Every year Ovechkin goes quiet for a bit and people begin to wonder if he is slowing down or if the league has “figured” him out. Let me tell you something, the league hasn’t figured out shit. Three straight 50 goal seasons and this year he is going to make it four. I am a diehard Pens fan and I do think Sidney Crosby is the best on the planet (sorry McDavid not yet) but I love me some Ovechkin. The Great 8 has been heating up as of late with five goals in his last five games. As a result of this production the Capitals have won four of their last five games and the Leafs will be in tough tonight. Give me the Caps behind a strong Ovechkin performance.

Key Stat: Capitals are 5-0 in the last 5 meetings.

Pick: Washington – Visitor Team Win – V

Montreal @ Detroit (7pm ET)

Montreal is really good. I mean Stanley Cup favorite good (aside from my Pens). Detroit is really bad. I mean bottom of the Eastern Conference bad (aside from the Isles until they fire coach). I don’t want to waste too much time here and make this more complicated than what it is. Vegas is giving really good value on the Canadiens here with the line hovering at around even money. This concerns me a little but it also makes me want to take the Habs here and not think twice. Take the Canadiens as in Carey we trust.

Key Stat: Canadiens are 9-2 in the last 11 meetings.

Minnesota @ St. Louis (8pm ET)

Devan Dubnyk has been quite the story this season. I jumped all over him in a majority of my leagues. Last season he was pretty stellar and it was truly only one horrid month that crippled his stats on the season. This year he has a 1.58 GAA and .948 SV% which is nuts. I know those numbers are not sustainable, however, he should end up a top tier fantasy goalie comes seasons end. I really like what Coach Boudreau has done and I had a feeling his presence would really help Dubnyk. The Blues have turned it on as of late winning four of their last five games. I have to go with the Blues here as they are pretty solid at home and they are catching the Wild on the tail end of a back-to-back. With Darcy Kuemper expected to start, give me the Blues.

Key Stat: Wild are 4-10 in the last 14 meetings in St. Louis.

Pick: St. Louis – Visitor Team Win – V

Anaheim @ San Jose (1030pm ET)

I am not a big fan of the Ducks and I do think they are overrated. Anaheim heads into this matchup having lost three-straight including one last night against the Blackhawks. On the other end we have the Sharks who I am a big fan of and who I think is underrated as always. The Sharks are trending in the opposite direction as they have won three straight including a 3-2 win last night against the Isles. The Sharks notoriously play well at the SAP Center and the Ducks will be in tough as their losing streak will continue tonight. Give me the Sharks.

Key Stat: Ducks are 1-9 in the last 10 meetings in San Jose.

Pick: San Jose – Home Team Win – H

**UPSET OF THE NIGHT**

Columbus @ Florida (7pm ET)

I really don’t see this as an upset considering how well the Blue Jackets have been playing this season. I mean they did just get a win on the road yesterday against the Bolts. Even more impressing is the fact that they lit the lamp five times. Now the Blue Jackets take on the Panthers. I understand this is the tail end of a back-to-back with both games being on the road. However, to put the Blue Jackets as heavy underdogs is pretty weird. I have to take that value and roll with the Blue Jackets in what looks like a coin flip game to me.

Key Stat: Blue Jackets are 11-3 in the last 14 meetings.

Pick: Columbus – Visitor Team Win – V

In your picks you have St. Louis a the V team and you have Montreal as the H team those are backwards.
