Dobber writers make their Stanley Cup Final, and Conn Smythe, predictions.
****
Things went a little better for the panel of Dobber writers with their round three picks compared to round two; out of 19 writers, 13 of them picked both Nashville and Pittsburgh to overcome Anaheim and Ottawa, respectively. However, Cam Robinson (of Frozen Pool Forensics fame) was the only person to correctly pick the number of games each team would need proceed to the Cup Final. Congrats to Cam on that.
Dobber’s team consensus did have both Pittsburgh and Nashville winning, bringing the website’s overall consensus since we’ve started keeping track to 80-38.
The end of the playoff road is here, as the Stanley Cup Final is set to start on Monday night. Coming out of the East is 2015-16’s Cup champion, the Pittsburgh Penguins, with the Nashville Predators making their franchise’s first-ever appearance in the Final. Below are the picks for each writer for the Cup Final, as well as their pick for the Conn Smythe winner.
Predictions on the Final is pretty split among the writers with 10 selecting Pittsburgh, and nine having Nashville raise the Cup. Even though more have Pittsburgh than Nashville, Pekka Rinne is the consensus Conn Smythe winner because a few of the Penguins votes splintered off to Sidney Crosby instead of Evgeni Malkin.
Here are the selections:
