Here are the top fantasy hockey centers from last season, according to the Geek.

We’ve looked at the goalies. We’ve looked at the defensemen. And we’ve looked at the wingers. So now with our final installment of this series, we’ll be taking a look at the best centers in fantasy hockey from last year. To find the centers with the most value, we’ll be going back to our trusty Fantasy Hockey Geek tool, using a 12-team H2H Yahoo league measuring G, A, PPP, SOG, Hits, W, SV%, GAA, and SO. From this, we get three natural centers that stand out from the pack.
 

Connor McDavid

Well this was kind of obvious, wasn’t it? Besides winning the Art Ross and Hart Trophy, McDavid also claims the title of most valuable center in fantasy hockey. With 100 points, McDavid easily blows everyone else out of the water, scoring 11 more points than the second-leading scorer in the league and  being the only player to crack triple digits. And while he by far led the league in assists, McDavid didn’t do bad in the goals department either, being one of 26 players to hit the 30-goal mark. It also didn’t hurt that McDavid drastically increased his shot output and dominated with the man advantage. His 251 shots on net were good for the 16^th most in the NHL while his 27 power play points tied him for the eighth most overall. The only thing McDavid really didn’t do well in was hits, as his 34 hits was one of the lowest among top-six forwards. But despite that, McDavid’s sophomore season (and first full year) in the NHL was one to remember. Poolies who were lucky enough to draft him were able to reap the rewards.

Sidney Crosby

Even though Sid the Kid may not have been number one (out of all players he was actually just 10^th in total fantasy value), Crosby still put up one of his best seasons in recent memory. Usually more well-known for collecting assists than scoring goals, Crosby broke the 40-goal mark for the first time since 2010 with a 44-goal performance. And despite missing time in the beginning of the year with a concussion, Crosby still managed to lead the league in goals, being the only skater to score more than 40 goals. Combine that with his 45 assists and you get the second highest point-per-game rate in the league, with Crosby’s 1.19 points-per-game only trailing McDavid’s 1.22 rate. And despite having very similar shot totals and power play points compared to McDavid, Crosby significantly outperformed the young Edmonton center in hits. Out of the top 25 centers in total fantasy value, Crosby’s 80 hits were the eighth most while McDavid’s was fifth-to-last.

Tyler Seguin

Is it me or does Tyler Seguin seem a bit underrated? While he did only have the 14^th most points in the league last year (I know, only 14^th most), Seguin once again surpassed the 70-point mark for the fourth straight season. Even though Fantasy Hockey Geek lists him only as a center, Seguin has arguably been one of the most consistent centers over the past few years. With Seguin you know you’re getting a high-scoring center that’ll put points on the board for you while providing plenty of value in other categories too. With 301 shots, Seguin was only one of four players to take over 300 shots while his 29 power-play points was good for sixth most in the league (right behind Phil Kessel!). His hit totals might only be average and, while his plus/minus and penalty minute totals have never been too great, you know you’re going to get plenty of points with Seguin. Over the last four seasons, Seguin’s only one of five players to score more than 300 points and has the seventh-most total power-play points over that same span.
