Top 100 Keeper League Defensemen – October 2020

Here are the Top 120 defensemen to own in your points-only keeper leagues – October edition!

Only minor changes this past month, based on play over the last two rounds of the playoffs. I also made tweaks based on UFA status (I went ahead and put in each UFA, even though they technically don’t turn UFA until October 9).

The Fantasy Prospects Report (get it here) now has the profiles updated, new profiles added, plus the 2020 Mock Draft from Cam Robinson. The Fantasy Guide will have a partial release on October 16 and full release scheduled for October 30. You can order both in the Keeper League Fantasy Pack here, or (new) sign up for a subscription here! Thank you for supporting the websites during this difficult time. And please turn off your ad blocker and whitelist us – we have no popups or flashy ads.

Be sure to come back during Free Agent Frenzy on Friday, where we break down each signing from a fantasy hockey standpoint. Just like we have each year for the last 15 years!

This month I’m trying something different. Because players further down the list are so close to each other, I’ve just thrown them together into groups. It beats trying to explain how the 90th ranked guy is pretty much the same for value as the 66th ranked guy. As a bonus, this means 120 defensemen appear in the rankings. Let me know if you like the new format. Click on any player name below to be taken to his fantasy hockey player profile page, with all the stats you need to make an assessment for your fantasy leagues…

The Next Group (gap between 66 and 90 is same as gap between 17 and 20 – i.e. they are pretty equal). Their value to you would depend on if you are rebuilding, just need a guy coming off the bench once in a while during hot spurts, or need immediate help with a lower ceiling, with different tolerances of risk…

Keeping Karlsson Short Shifts – The Wilkes-Jarry Penguins

Elizabeth and Lewis are back to take listeners through a host of power play changes that are giving managers the opportunity to get exposure to great players off the waiver wire, including Philly, Jersey, and Tampa talk. They also cover Jarry’s AHL demotion, Cooley’s ascension to the top-line and powerplay, and injuries to Tavares and Hintz. The duo wrap up with some hot and cold streak deep dives, including discussion of the Red Wings crazy powerplay success in the last ten games, whether Erik Gustafsson is rosterable or an overperforming illusion, Fantilli’s continued success, Merilainen as Hamburglar 2.0, and whether Schenn’s success and Neighbours’ lack thereof are likely to continue.
