Daily Fantasy Saturday: Oilers Have Opportunity to Rebound

While the NFL playoffs are set to steal the Saturday spotlight, don't sleep on hockey as there are currently 13 games on the schedule, nine of which that fall on the DraftKings main slate. If our opponents are more focused on football and are either not playing NHL DFS altogether Saturday or spending less time on it, perhaps we have a little bit more of an edge on this slate.

As always, Covid is still a major factor so make sure you double check everything before lock so you're not giving away money. Otherwise, let's get right to it. All prices are from DraftKings but plays can be applied to any site.

Primary Stacks

Edmonton – There is no doubt the Oilers are struggling right now, both on and off the ice as the Evander Kane and Mikko Koskinen drama has the media swarming. However, if there was ever a chance to get things rolling again, a home matchup with the Ottawa Senators is about as good as it gets. It doesn't hurt that Connor McDavid ($8,600) returned to practice this week and figures to draw back into the lineup. In Friday's practice the Oilers had the dynamic duo of McDavid and Leon Draisaitl ($8,100) together on the same line which is something that always grabs my attention for DFS purposes. Joining them was Zack Kassian ($2,700) who is just about the site minimum price and should be thrown onto stacks to help offset the hefty price tags on McDavid and Draisaitl. All you're really looking for from Kassian here is to pick up an assist, and anything more is a bonus.

Colorado – A team that's not struggling are the Avalanche, who continue to flash the Stanley Cup winning potential that many expected coming into the season and now get the lowly Coyotes. These two teams are on the back end up a home and home back-to-back, with the Avalanche winning the game Friday in a shootout. Nathan MacKinnon ($9,400), Mikko Rantanen ($8,200), and Andre Burakovsky ($4,600) dominated in that one and while I'll certainly have some of that line, consider the second line of Nazem Kadri ($6,900) and Valeri Nichushkin ($4,200) to get a discount on both price and ownership.

New York – This is a meeting of two teams who coming into the season projected pretty close but are certainly moving in opposite directions at the moment. The Rangers sit atop the Metro Division having won five of seven, whereas the Flyers are working their way towards the basement with six consecutive losses and counting. Despite the team winning, the price tags on the Rangers skaters are surprisingly trending down, which leaves us with a very affordable second line stack of Ryan Strome ($4,400) and Artemi Panarin ($5,900). The top line of Mika Zibanejad ($6,700) and Chris Kreider ($5,500) make for a fine stack as well and you can mix and match any three out of four combination above because they all skate on the power play together. Also Adam Fox ($6,000) who is normally priced in the $7K range comes in at a discount tonight too, and can be used to round out any stack.

Secondary Stacks

Chicago – The Ducks will be on a road back-to-back here tonight, which is one of my favorite spots to target for stacks. I like the matchup even more if John Gibson is still unable to return from virus protocol, as the Ducks will have to turn to Anthony Stolarz again for the second night in a row, or rely on a taxi squad call up. The Blackhawks are tough to stack when Patrick Kane ($7,000) and Alex Debrincat ($6,700) are separated as they've been, so I like either focusing on the power play and stacking the duo together with someone like Erik Gustafsson ($3,400) or targeting Kane and hoping he can create some opportunities for someone like Brandon Hagel ($3,100) who was with him at even strength and saw some power play time last game.

Detroit – I mentioned the home/road splits for the Red Wings in last week's article, but to refresh your memory Detroit is just 4-11-3 on the road but a very respectable 12-6-2 on home ice. Well, they are in the friendly confines of Little Caesars Arena tonight, so count me in for a few Red Wings stacks. It doesn't get much more clear cut on where to stack with a team like Detroit, as they go as their top line of Dylan Larkin ($7,000), Tyler Bertuzzi ($6,100), and Lucas Raymond ($5,100) go. Larkin and Bertuzzi will be in all of my Red Wings stacks but I will interchange Raymond with Robby Fabbri ($3,700) and Moritz Seider ($5,600) on a few.

Los Angeles – Seattle's debut season has just been miserable and they come into this one on an eight-game skid. Either of the top two lines for the Kings make for solid stacks here, but pairing up the second line duo of Phillip Danault ($3,800) and Viktor Arvidsson ($5,000) is very affordable and can help you jam in some of those more expensive options listed above.
