Here's the latest injury news from across the NHL! If you're looking for information about a specific player and don't see their name in this article, there probably haven't been any significant updates about their progress since our last article. If you ever need injury updates for a specific player, shoot me a message on Twitter @BrennanDeSouza.

John GibsonEntered COVID protocol on January 6th and was sidelined for 10 days. He returned to practice on Tuesday and could be an option against Colorado on Wednesday if he's feeling up to it.

Sonny MilanoOn Saturday, Milano received treatment for an injury he sustained during Friday's game against Anaheim, when he took an elbow to the head. Head injuries tend to be unpredictable, so it's hard to say when Milano will return.

Adam HenriqueThe Ducks forward has been sidelined with a lower-body injury since December 3rd. Coach Dallas Eakins said that Henrique's injury is currently at a point where improvement will be gradual – like one percent better each day. He skated recently, but there's no timetable for his return.

Jakob ChychrunWas recently activated from Injured Reserve and could face the Devils on Wednesday night.Chychrun was close to returning from an upper-body injury before entering COVID protocol on January 10th. He cleared protocol recently and should be back once his upper-body injury has healed and his conditioning is 100%.

Antti RaantaIs dealing with an upper-body injury that shouldn't be a long-term issue but is more serious than a day-to-day ailment. He was on the ice for Monday's practice, but there's still no concrete timetable for his return.

Darcy KuemperConcussion spotters pulled Kuemper from Monday's game against Minnesota. As far as we know, he hasn't been officially diagnosed with a concussion. He's expected to skate on Wednesday morning, though Pavel Francouz is slated to start against the Ducks on Wednesday night.

Bowen ByramThe young defenseman has been dealing with lingering issues that likely stem from his past concussion problems. There's no timeline for his return.

Jason RobertsonDallas' young star is officially day-to-day with a lower-body injury. He skated on Tuesday morning but wasn't feeling well enough to suit up against the Habs on Tuesday night. He'll skate again on Wednesday to determine his status for Thursday's game against Buffalo.

Ryan Nugent-HopkinsHas been on the ice recently as he works his way back from a lower-body injury. Based on initial timetables, he'll probably be out for another week or two.

Mike Smith – On January 13th, the team announced Smith would be sidelined for a week or two due to a partial tear of a tendon in his thumb. He has been skating on his own recently.

Cam TalbotCould be back during this weekend's home-and-home set with the Blackhawks.

Talbot left the Winter Classic on New Year's Day with a lower-body injury and has been out of action since.

Jared Spurgeon On December 30th, we learned that Spurgeon would be sidelined for a couple weeks due to a lower-body injury. He's practiced with the team frequently over the past week and while he may not be ready for Friday's game, he could be an option on Saturday.

Jonas Brodin – Hurt his hand after blocking a shot against the Bruins on January 6th and coach Dean Evason said Brodin would probably be sidelined for more than a week. It doesn't look like he's been skating recently, so I don't expect he'll be available for Friday's back-to-back against Chicago.

Jake Allen – On January 13th, coach Dominique Ducharme announced that Allen would be sidelined for at least a week with a lower-body injury. The Canadiens netminder reportedly had an MRI to assess the injury on Monday morning. No word yet on the results or potential timeline for return.

Brendan Gallagher – Has been skating recently and progressing well, expected to return from a lower-body injury in the next week or two.

Carey Price – The 34-year-old netminder will have restart rehab on his injured knee and will be sidelined indefinitely. Price's rehab had been interrupted by the holiday break and the team's recent 'COVID pause'. It's looking less and less likely that he'll return in time to have a significant impact on your fantasy team.

Kyle PalmieriHas been sidelined with a lower-body injury since mid-December. The recovery process has been slow and he still isn't at 100-percent. Coach Barry Trotz estimates that Palmieri is at ~80 percent right now, with no real timetable for a return.

Matt Murray – A non-COVID illness prevented Murray from starting against the Sabres on Tuesday. We often see conditioning take a hit when players return after being sick, so I'm not sure he'll be ready to face the Penguins on Thursday.

Connor BrownThe Senators forward will be sidelined for at least three weeks with a broken jaw. He'll be tough to replace, averaging 20 minutes a night and scoring at a 60-point pace.

Kevin HayesOn Tuesday, Hayes underwent a procedure to drain fluid from the adductor region of his hip. He'll be sidelined for three to four weeks as he recovers. Injuries have limited Hayes to just 20 appearances this year. He missed the season's first 12 games as he rehabbed from abdominal surgery, and six more games as he aggravated that injury shortly after returning to the lineup.

Sean Couturier – No updates since we learned Couturier was week-to-week with an upper-body injury. He's been receiving treatment for the injury and hasn't been skating recently. As I write this, there's still no timetable for his return. Last we heard, the recovery process had been very 'up and down', with Couturier feeling good on some days and not so great on other days.

Derick Brassard – Re-aggravated a hip injury when he returned to the lineup on January 6th. Brassard hasn't been skating recently and remains day-to-day, although that's been the case for almost two weeks now.

Ryan EllisOn Saturday, Ellis received treatment for his lower-body injury. On the same day, coach Mike Yeo said Ellis hadn't been skating recently and there was no timetable for the defenseman's return.

Erik CernakHas been sidelined since blocking a shot with his foot during Thursday's game against Vancouver. He skated on Saturday and has been a game-time decision for Tampa's last couple of games, which suggests the injury isn't too serious.

Ondrej PalatIs day-to-day with a lingering injury but has been skating recently. It sounds like he could return this weekend, against the Ducks on Friday night or the Sharks on Saturday.

Jake MuzzinThe Leafs defenseman is dealing with a concussion and definitely won't be available against the Rangers on Wednesday or the Islanders on Saturday. His status beyond that is questionable.

Laurent Brossoit – Is still being evaluated and getting medical opinions for an upper-body injury he sustained on January 2nd.

Alec Martinez – Recently cleared COVID protocol and reports indicate he skated yesterday. Prior to entering protocol, he had been working his way back from a head injury, which kept him sidelined since late November. Not being able to skate while in protocol likely set his conditioning back a bit, but it sounds like he could return soon.

T.J. Oshie – Left Saturday's game against the Islanders due to an upper-body injury and is officially day-to-day. Injuries have kept Oshie sidelined for 22 of Washington's 40 games so far this season.

Blake WheelerOn Monday, Wheeler skated with the team but wasn't taking any contact. He's travelling with the team, but it's unclear whether he'll suit up for any of the three games remaining in Winnipeg's current road trip. He'll likely need a new more practices before he's able to return. Winnipeg's captain has been sidelined witha lower-body injury (believed to be knee-related) since mid-December.

Nikolaj EhlersSeemed to injure his left knee after a knee-on-knee collision with Dmitry Orlov during Tuesday's game against Washington. He'll be re-evaluated on Wednesday but early signs indicate Ehlers will be sidelined for more than just one game.

NHL's COVID-19 Protocol List

📢 advertisement:

Over the past few weeks, many players have been placed in COVID protocol. There isn't really much information available for each case, so I've simply listed the date that each player entered protocol. In the past, players stayed sidelined for about 10 days, but the league and player's association agreed to let vaccinated individuals leave isolation five days after a positive COVID test, if they have no symptoms or if symptoms are resolving. That early exit is only possibly if allowed by local health authorities.

On Tuesday, we learned that the NHL plans to stop testing asymptomatic players after the All-Star break. This should result in fewer players being sidelined in COVID protocol going forward, as only players showing symptoms will have to take a test. All players will also be tested before cross-border travel between Canada and the United States.

Below is a list of fantasy-relevant players currently sidelined due to COVID.

Josh MansonEntered COVID protocol on January 18th.

Cam FowlerEntered COVID protocol on January 15th.

Anthony Stolarz – Entered COVID protocol on January 15th.

Troy TerryEntered COVID protocol on January 14th.

Mike ReillyWas placed in COVID protocol on January 18th.

Adam BoqvistWas placed in COVID protocol on January 16th.

Cole Sillinger – Was placed in COVID protocol on January 15th.

Jakub VoracekWas placed in COVID protocol on January 13th. As of Wednesday morning, he's still in protocol and won't travel with the team to Philadelphia, where they face the Flyers on Thursday. He could theoretically travel to Philly by himself if he clears protocol on Thursday morning, but that doesn't seem likely.

Alexander RadulovWas placed in COVID protocol on January 12th. Radulov has completed his mandatory five-day quarantine but needs to produce a negative test in order to exit protocol.

Thomas Greiss –Was placed in COVID protocol on January 17th.

Stuart Skinner –  Was placed in COVID protocol on January 17th.

Adrian KempeEntered COVID protocol on January 16th.
