Here's the latest injury news from across the NHL! If you're looking for information about a specific player and don't see their name in this article, there probably haven't been any significant updates about their progress since our last article. If you ever need injury updates for a specific player, shoot me a message on Twitter @BrennanDeSouza.
Jakob Chychrun – Will be sidelined for the rest of the season with a lower-body injury that's kept him on the shelf since mid-March.
David Pastrnak – A core muscle injury will cause him to miss an eighth-straight game on Thursday, as he won't suit up against the Penguins. Pastrnak has been skating on his own and if he's able to practice on Friday, there's a chance he returns this weekend.
Hampus Lindholm – A lower-body injury will keep Lindholm out of Thursday's clash against Pittsburgh, extending his absence to seven games. There's a chance he practices on Friday, and if all goes well, he could be back this weekend.
Linus Ullmark – Took a puck to the mask during Thursday's game against Ottawa and is out day-to-day. He isn't with the team in Pittsburgh and won't be available for Thursday's game against the Penguins. If Ullmark's able to practice on Friday, he could be available for Boston's back-to-back set this weekend.
Jesperi Kotkaniemi – Recently returned to the lineup after missing eight games with a lower-body injury. Unfortunately, he got nicked up again and has been labelled day-to-day.
Frederik Andersen – Is currently sidelined with a leg injury and will be re-evaluated early next week. Recent reports indicate that imaging results have been encouraging, and there's hope Andersen will be ready for the playoffs.
Jordan Staal – Sustained an injury during Saturday's game against Colorado, presumably after taking this big hit from Cale Makar. Staal was a casual participant in Monday's morning skate and is officially day-to-day.
Kirby Dach – Sprained his right shoulder and won't travel with the team for its upcoming three-game road trip. That means he probably won't be available against the Coyotes on Wednesday, the Kings on Thursday, or the Sharks on Saturday.
Connor Murphy – Has been sidelined with a concussion for the past month but recently started skating with the team again. Although Murphy hasn't been taking contact, this is an encouraging first step in the right direction.
Devon Toews – Is dealing with some nagging injuries, so the team has opted to give him some rest this week. Toews isn't expected to join the Avs on their upcoming road trip, so he won't be available against the Kraken on Wednesday, and will likely miss Friday's game in Edmonton and Sunday's game in Winnipeg as well.
Nazem Kadri – Is expected to return against the Kraken on Wednesday. The 31-year-old center has been sidelined with an upper-body injury since March 31st.
Gabriel Landeskog – Started skating again recently – a big step forward in his return from knee surgery, which he had in mid-March. The timetable for Landeskog's return hasn't been updated; he's still expected to be back for the playoffs.
Zach Werenski – An upper-body injury kept Werenski out of the lineup during Tuesday's game against the Sharks. There's no timetable for his return as I write this, so I'd label him day-to-day until we hear otherwise.
Patrik Laine – The 24-year-old winger has missed Columbus' last two games with an upper-body injury and is officially day-to-day. After posting a disappointing 24 points through 46 games last season, Laine has bounced back with a point-per-game pace through 56 appearances this year.
Esa Lindell – Missed Monday's game against the Canucks due to a non-COVID illness. As I write this, his status for Wednesday's clash with the Oilers remains up in the air.
Alex Nedeljkovic – An illness prevented him from suiting up against Tampa Bay on Tuesday. He was a game-time decision, which suggests he was relatively close to playing. That means he could be an option against Florida on Thursday.
Dylan Larkin – Will be sidelined for the rest of the season after undergoing core muscle surgery on Monday. He's expected to make a full recovery in eight to 10 weeks. Larkin finishes the season with 69 points in 71 games – a significant improvement from last year's 23 in 44.
Aaron Ekblad – Was on the ice for Tuesday morning's skate, working his way back from a lower-body injury that's kept him sidelined since March 18th. When asked about Ekblad, coach Andrew Brunette said, "I think he's on schedule to hopefully get back here, if not the first (round), the second round of the playoffs."
Marcus Foligno – Is in COVID protocol, currently expected to miss both Thursday's game against Vancouver and Friday's game against Seattle. The team is hopeful he'll be available for Sunday's game against Nashville.
Matt Dumba – Has been skating frequently with the team's skill coach and it sounds like Minnesota's defenseman is getting closer to a return. It's believed Dumba is dealing with a shoulder injury, which fortunately isn't as serious as early reports indicated.
Jordan Greenway – Has been skating recently, working his way back from an upper-body injury which he sustained last week. There's no concrete timetable for his return as I write this.
Ryan Graves – Took a skate to the chin during Thursday's game against Colorado, needing 19 stitches to close up the cut. Graves was on the ice for Monday morning's skate, sporting a chin guard. There's no concrete timetable for his return as I write this.
Kaapo Kakko – The Rangers forward is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury. Coach Gerard Gallant fully expects Kakko to be back for the playoffs.
Mathieu Joseph – On April 16th, we learned that an injury would keep Joseph sidelined for at least a week. The team would like to get him back in the lineup before the season ends, but with just 10 days left in Ottawa's schedule, that may not be possible.
Matt Murray – Like last week, Murray continues to skate and face shots, but there's no timetable for his return. Although coach D.J. Smith would love to have Murray start a game or two before the season ends, it's hard to make a firm commitment to something like that without a concrete recovery timetable in place.
Rasmus Ristolainen – On April 15th, we learned that an upper-body injury would keep Ristolainen sidelined for at least a week. The team is hopeful he'll be able to return before the season ends.
Cam Atkinson – A lower-body injury has kept him out of the team's last four games. It sounded like Atkinson was close to returning for Sunday's game against the Sabres, but ultimately didn't play because he experienced some pain while skating on Saturday. I guess we consider him day-to-day until we hear otherwise.
Carter Hart – A lower-body injury will likely keep Hart sidelined for the rest of the regular season. He holds a 3.16 GAA and .905 save percentage through 46 games this year, which represents a significant improvement from last year's abysmal numbers. Obviously, his current numbers aren't great, but we have to cut him some slack considering the team in front of him.
Tristan Jarry – The Penguins netminder is week-to-week with a broken foot. It's a tough break for Jarry, who had been having a great season. He holds a 34-18-6 record, 2.42 GAA and .919 save percentage this year.
Erik Karlsson – The 31-year-old defenseman has missed the San Jose's last three games with a lower-body injury and is officially day-to-day.
Adin Hill – The Sharks netminder probably won't be back this season. Hill has been sidelined since March 12th – when he re-aggravated the same lower-body injury which had kept him out for about seven weeks earlier in the year.
Auston Matthews – Has missed Toronto's last two games with an undisclosed injury – one he hasn't dealt with before. Matthews has been skating recently, and it sounds like he's feeling good. He'll travel to Tampa Bay for Thursday's clash with the Lightning, but his status for that game remains up in the air as I write this.
Ondrej Kase – Has been feeling good lately, skating consistently without experiencing any setbacks. Kase is dealing with a concussion and there's no concrete timetable for his return. He won't join the team on its upcoming road trip, so he'll miss at least three more games. He took an elbow to the head on March 19th and hasn't played since.
Rasmus Sandin – The Leafs defenseman continues to skate as he works his way back from a knee injury, which has kept him sidelined for the past month. He won't join the team on its upcoming road trip, which means he'll be sidelined for at least three more games. The hope is for Sandin to return at some point next week.
Jake Muzzin – Is dealing with an injury that isn't related to his previous concussion. Muzzin has been skating recently and will travel with the team on its upcoming road trip, which includes stops in Tampa on Thursday, Florida on Saturday, and Washington on Sunday.
Bo Horvat – The Canucks captain is dealing with a lower-body injury and will be re-evaluated in just over a week.
Tanner Pearson – Has missed Vancouver's last five games with an upper-body injury but he hasn't been ruled out for the season just yet.
Reilly Smith – According to coach Pete DeBoer, if the Golden Knights make the playoffs, Smith is expected to play at some point.
Connor Hellebuyck – Was unavailable for Tuesday's game against the Rangers because of a non-COVID illness.
Mark Scheifele – Is officially day-to-day with a shoulder injury. He didn't join the team for its current road trip and won't be available as the Jets close out that trip on Thursday in Carolina.
