Here's the latest injury news from across the NHL! If you're looking for information about a specific player and don't see their name in this article, there probably haven't been any significant updates about their progress since our last article. If you ever need injury updates for a specific player, shoot me a message on Twitter @BrennanDeSouza.

Jeremy Swayman – The Bruins' netminder is officially week-to-week and hasn't been skating recently. Swayman couldn't put any weight on his leg when he left Tuesday's game against the Penguins with a lower-body injury. After the game, he was seen with ice on his knee, but fortunately wasn't using crutches.

Charlie McAvoyHas been practicing with the team and is expected to make his season debut within a week. Neither coach Jim Montgomery nor McAvoy himself would say whether he's playing against the Flames on Thursday. However, we saw something similar with Brad Marchand and he ended up playing the next day, so don't be surprised if Charlie's in the lineup against Calgary.

Jonathan HuberdeauThe Flames' forward missed Tuesday's dance with the Devils and was labelled day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Despite the 'upper-body' designation, after the game, coach Darryl Sutter said Huberdeau hadn't been able to get his foot in a skate. Supporting this claim, Huberdeau was seen in a walking boot after the game. Maybe he's dealing with multiple issues right now?

Frederik AndersenLeft Tuesday's practice early and netminder Pyotr Kochetkov was called up to Carolina from the AHL. That would suggest Andersen won't be available against Florida on Wednesday. As I write this, we're still waiting on an official update from the team.

Alex StalockThe Blackhawks' netminder skated on Tuesday but won't join the team on its upcoming road trip. That means he won't be available for Thursday's clash with the Kings or Saturday's tilt with the Ducks. Stalock entered concussion protocol after he was bowled over by Casey Cizikas last Tuesday against the Islanders. Recovering from a concussion is usually an unpredictable process that requires day-to-day monitoring, so there's no concrete timetable for his return.

Seth JonesHas been skating recently, but that doesn't mean much considering his injury doesn't affect his ability to skate. On October 30th, we learned that Chicago's defenseman would be sidelined for three to four weeks with a thumb injury.

Petr MrazekHas recovered from a groin strain and is expected to start one of Chicago's next two games – either Thursday in Los Angeles or Saturday in Anaheim.

Tyler JohnsonThe 32-year-old forward has been skating recently, working his way back from an ankle sprain suffered on October 25th. Although Chicago hasn't released an official timetable for Johnson's return, a similar injury kept teammate Boris Katchouk out for around four weeks.

Valeri Nichushkin – The Avalanche forward is expected to miss a month of action following ankle surgery. It's a substantial loss for Colorado as Nichushkin started the year with seven goals and five assists through seven appearances. With Nichushkin sidelined, Evan Rodrigues has been promoted to the team's top power-play unit. Rodrigues is available in 90% of Yahoo Leagues and could be a solid addition to your fantasy roster for the next month or so.

Bowen Byram – The 21-year-old defenseman is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury. He reportedly sustained the injury during Colorado's road trip through New York and New Jersey (October 25-29). That means he was playing through the injury during the first game of the Global Series in Finland, and it explains why he was a late scratch for the second game.

Samuel Girard – On Tuesday, the Avs announced that Girard was day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Colorado last played on Saturday, as part of the Global Series in Finland. Their next game is set for Thursday against the Predators. If this was a minor injury and Girard was expected to play on Thursday, I don't think the team would have released the injury update. As such, I wouldn't expect him to be in the lineup against Nashville.

Jakub Voracek – The Blue Jackets' forward is out indefinitely with an upper-body injury. Columbus' last two games were played in Finland as part of the NHL's Global Series. Although Voracek took part in game one, he was held out of game two the next day with his status being day-to-day. It's concerning that he's now out 'indefinitely'.

Patrik Laine – Missed Tuesday's practice with an illness and is officially day-to-day. He isn't expected to miss any game time and he should be in the lineup against the Flyers on Thursday.

Jake OettingerThe Stars netminder has been on the ice frequently and is progressing well in his recovery from a lower-body injury.  If he's able to practice with the team on Thursday, he may be available to start on Friday against the Sharks or on Sunday against the Flyers. In any case, it doesn't sound like he'll be sidelined much longer.

Tyler BertuzziHas been skating with the team recently and is expected to be back in the lineup within the next week or so. Bertuzzi will probably miss two to three more games before making his return against the Ducks on Tuesday or the Sharks on Thursday. A broken hand has kept him sidelined since October 15th – Detroit's second game of the season.

Evander KaneWas taken to the hospital after his wrist was cut by a skate blade during Tuesday's game against Tampa. He's expected to have surgery and it sounds like he's going to be okay, although the team doesn't know how long he'll be out.

Aaron EkbladIs expected to return from a lower-body injury on Saturday against the Oilers. Ekblad has been sidelined since October 17th. He had to miss 10 games and 24 days of action as he was on long-term injured reserve (LTIR).

Quinton ByfieldThe Kings have sent Byfield down to the AHL as part of a conditioning stint. He recently lost a lot of weight after dealing with an illness for over a week. The hope is for him to gain some strength and ramp up his conditioning over the next little while.

Brandon DuhaimeIs dealing with an upper-body injury and hasn't been practicing lately. He isn't travelling with the team right now, so he probably won't be available for Wednesday's game in Anaheim or Friday's game in Seattle.

Marcus FolignoThe Wild forward has been skating with the team recently, working his way back from an upper-body injury. While he won't be in the lineup against Anaheim on Wednesday, the plan is for him to make his return on Friday in Seattle.

Carter HartMissed Tuesday's battle with the Blues due to an illness but is feeling better and should be available against the Blue Jackets on Thursday.

Mike MathesonOn October 13th, the Canadiens announced Matheson would be sidelined for eight weeks with an abdominal muscle strain. Four weeks into that timetable and it sounds like he's ahead of schedule, skating on his own at a high intensity.

Mackenzie BlackwoodThe Devils' netminder is expected to miss three to six weeks with an MCL sprain. In Blackwood's absence, Vitek Vanecek will take over the starting duties in New Jersey – behind a strong team that's had a great start to the campaign.

Ondrej Palat – Had groin surgery last Tuesday and will be sidelined for eight to 10 weeks.

Artem ZubHas been skating recently and will travel with the team as it visits New Jersey on Thursday and Philadelphia on Saturday. However, there's no guarantee he plays in either of those games. Zub was expected to miss a week or two with this upper-body injury – a timeline which has just about run its course.

Josh Norris – After consulting with multiple doctors and specialists, it's been determined that Norris won't need surgery to treat his shoulder injury. Surgery would have come with a lengthy six-month recovery timetable, so it's good to hear the injury can be treated with less drastic measures like rehab. He still won't be back any time soon as the current plan is for him to be re-evaluated in January, but at least now there's optimism he'll be back this season. It's worth mentioning that this injury is unrelated to shoulder ailments Norris has suffered in the past.

Jeff CarterA lower-body injury has kept him out of the lineup for Pittsburgh's last three games. However, he's been skating with the team recently and will be a game-time decision ahead of Wednesday's clash with the Capitals.

Ilya Samsonov – The Leafs netminder was on the ice for some solo rehab work on Tuesday. He suffered a knee injury during Saturday's battle with the Bruins and is officially week-to-week. Samsonov boasts a 6-2 record on the season, alongside a 2.23 GAA and .921 save percentage.

Matt Murray – Suffered an adductor injury on October 15th that came with a recovery timetable of at least four weeks. On Wednesday, Murray participated in his first practice since suffering the injury. If his body responds well, he could make his return very soon.

T.J. OshieHas been skating on his own and making progress, but remains out indefinitely with a lower-body injury.

John CarlsonHas been skating with the team consistently as he works his way back from a lower-body injury. Although he won't be in the lineup against Pittsburgh on Wednesday, I expect he'll be back relatively soon.

Dmitry OrlovWon't play against the Penguins on Wednesday. With that being said, he participated in the morning skate and has been on the ice with his teammates in recent days. I don't think there's concern about his lower-body injury keeping him sidelined long term.

Nikolaj EhlersCoach Rick Bowness is hopeful Ehlers will be able to start skating before the end of the week. Although the Jets' forward is making progress, there's still no timetable for his return from a lower-body injury that's kept him out since October 17th.
