Here's the latest injury news from across the NHL! If you're looking for information about a specific player and don't see their name in this article, there probably haven't been any significant updates about their progress since our last article. Jordan Staal – Missed Sunday's game against the Canucks because of personal reasons. As I write this, his status for Thursday's game against Minnesota remains up in the air.
Max Pacioretty – Is dealing with a lower-body injury that isn't believed to be anything serious. According to the team, this ailment is not related to the Achilles injury that caused Pacioretty to miss the first few months of this season. He was on the ice for Wednesday's practice, which suggests he may be available for Thursday's game against the Wild.
Alex Stalock – Is in concussion protocol after taking a hit during Monday's practice. This is his second concussion of the season as he was previously sidelined with one from the beginning of November to late December. It's a tough break for Stalock who has quietly posted strong numbers behind a lacklustre Blackhawks team, sporting a 2.70 GAA and .918 save percentage through 14 games.
Bowen Byram – Continues to skate by himself and it sounds like he could be back at some point in February, shortly after the All-Star Game. Byram has been sidelined with a lower-body injury since November 4th.
Josh Manson – Had been skating on his own for a few weeks but joined his teammates for Tuesday's optional practice. It seems Manson is closer to a return than Byram is, but he still needs a few full-contact practices before coming back. Manson has been sidelined with alower-body injury since December 1st.
Gabriel Landeskog – Colorado's captain hopes to start skating after the All-Star break, which means he's still far from a return. Landeskog hasn't played yet this season as he's been recovering from knee surgery, which he had back in mid-October. The procedure originally came with a 12-week timetable – which has since run its course – but reports indicate he's been given a new timetable that hasn't been revealed to the public just yet.
Roope Hintz – Has been skating on his own recently. On Monday, coach Pete DeBoer said he was hopeful Hintz would join the team on its current road trip. As I write this, Hintz hasn't been ruled out of Wednesday's game in San Jose or Thursday's game in Los Angeles. He's missed Dallas' last four games due to an upper-body injury.
Kailer Yamamoto – The 24-year-old forward was recently placed on long-term injured reserve, which means he'll be sidelined for at least 10 games and 24 days. He's missed three games thus far, so the earliest he can return is February 12th against the Canadiens.
Spencer Knight – Has completed his mandatory weeklong absence, required after being placed on injured reserve. Knight was on the ice for Saturday's morning skate but there haven't been many updates about his recovery from an undisclosed injury.
Anthony Duclair – On Saturday, Duclair skated with all his teammates – for the first time since undergoing Achilles surgery in June. He wasn't taking contact on Saturday, so that'll be the next major hurdle for him to overcome. It seems like the plan is for Duclair to get in a few full contact practices before the All-Star Game, and then to return shortly after the break.
Trevor Moore – Hasn't been skating recently and remainsweek-to-week with an upper-body injury.
Arthur Kaliyev – Sustained a lower body injury after blocking a shot on December 20th against the Ducks. Kaliyev hasn't been on the ice recently and his status remains week-to-week.
Juraj Slafkovsky – Montreal's first overall pick from the 2022 draft will be sidelined for three months because of a lower-body injury.
Jake Allen – Has skated with the team recently but will be sidelined with an upper-body injury for at least another week. Since Allen went down with the injury on January 7th, backup Samuel Montembeault has posted a remarkable 2.02 GAA and .946 save percentage over five appearances.
Sean Monahan – Was recently placed on long term injured reserve (LTIR), but he's already been sidelined for the mandatory 10 games and 24 days, so he can return whenever he's healthy. Reports indicate he's skating and progressing well. Based on the most recent timelines we have, Monahan should be back within the next week or so.
Oliver Wahlstrom – As of January 14th, Wahlstromstill hadn't started skating yet. On December 30th, we learned he'd be sidelined indefinitely because of a lower-body injury.
Adam Pelech – The Islanders' defenseman has been on the ice for the team's last few skates. It seems he's getting more involved and inching his way closer to a return. Pelech has been sidelined with an 'upper-body injury' since December 6th. It's believed he's dealing with a head injury, for which the recovery process tends to be unpredictable.
Chris Kreider – Was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, which suggests he'll be available for Thursday's battle with Boston. Kreider has missed the Rangers' last three games due to an upper-body injury.
Josh Norris – Will return to the lineup on Wednesday against Pittsburgh after missing three months with a shoulder injury. He isn't expected to take any faceoffs on Wednesday as he slowly eases his way back into action.
Tristan Jarry – Has been practicing with the team recently which suggests he's getting close to a return. Jarry is with the Penguins in Ottawa but isn't expected to play against the Senators on Wednesday night. He's been sidelined with a lower-body injury since January 2nd.
Kris Letang – Is officially day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Letang has been skating with the team recently but hasn't been taking contact. He won't be available for Wednesday's game against the Senators.
Jeff Petry – Was a full participant in Tuesday's practice, which suggests a return is imminent. He wasn't skating with the regular defensive pairs during Wednesday's morning skate, so he won't play against the Senators on Wednesday night. Petry has been sidelined with a wrist injury for over a month.
Jaden Schwartz – The Kraken forward is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury.
Vladimir Tarasenko – Was a full participant in Sunday's practice, suggesting he'll return ahead of schedule. On January 2nd, we learned Tarasenko's hand injury would be re-evaluated in four weeks. There's another two weeks left in that timetable, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him back in the lineup before those two weeks are up.
Torey Krug – Has been skating recently. On December 27th, we learned that Krug was dealing with a lower-body injury and that he'd be re-evaluated in six weeks. We're just about half-way through that timetable. Although it's encouraging to see him back on the ice, he'll need a few full-contact practices before we can start anticipating a return.
Nick Robertson – The young Leafs forward will be sidelined for six months as he recovers from shoulder surgery. They originally hoped Robertson's injury could be treated with rehab over a period of six-to-eight weeks, but it seems that method wasn't effective enough.
Thatcher Demko – Reports indicate the Canucks goaltender is progressing well and the team hopes to have him back in the near future. On December 3rd, we learned Demko would be sidelined for six weeks with a lower-body injury. That timetable has run its course, but General Manager Jim Rutherford recently said he doesn't want to rush Demko back – he wants his goaltender to feel 110% before returning to the lineup.
Alec Martinez – Left Monday's game against the Stars with an undisclosed injury. Since then, the team hasn't released any updates on his status, so he remains questionable for Thursday's tilt against Detroit.
Mark Stone – Vegas' captain is officially week-to-week with an upper-body injury. Reports indicate he's dealing with a back injury and is currently being evaluated to figure out the severity. There's cause for concern as missed a big chunk of last season with a back injury, which was repaired with surgery back in May.
Shea Theodore – It sounds like he's no longer using crutches, but he also hasn't been skating recently, so don't expect a return any time soon. Theodore was labelled week-to-week with a leg injury in mid-December.
Nic Dowd – Is expected to be sidelined for "a bit" due to a lower-body injury.
