DFS Saturday: DeBrusk in a Top Tier Stack

I spent much of last week's article talking up the slate as one of the best of the year for an NHL DFS player. Unfortunately for me, my lineups did not cooperate. For anyone reading, hopefully you made out better and were able to turn the night into a success. If your lineups were more like mine, the beauty of DFS is right in the name. Daily. Every day the scores are reset to zero and it's a fresh start. So, in that spirit let's get right into some plays for tonight's eight-game slate that has a puck drop of 7 pm EST. All player prices are from DraftKings, but the information and concepts can be applied to any site.

Top-Tier Stack to Pay Up For

After losing four of five, the Bruins have returned to their winning ways with victories in five straight games. Tonight, they draw a matchup with the Vancouver Canucks, which is a team we've been picking on with our lineups for several weeks now. I'm looking at the top line here which consists of Patrice Bergeron ($6,600), Brad Marchand ($7,100), and Jake DeBrusk ($7,000). Often overlooked on this line, DeBrusk has three goals over the last three games and leads the entire team with 15 shots. If you can afford it, David Pastrnak ($8,900) can be added to the stack as well or you can swap him in for one of the previously mentioned three. Pasta has also scored three times over the last three games while kicking in another two assists and racking up 14 shots.

Mid-Tier Stack to Target

I want to give a disclaimer with this stack. There's some smoke around the Patrick Kane ($6,400) trade rumors that a deal could be made in the next day or so. You'll want to keep an eye on that because if one is made or Chicago decides to sit him out for safety reasons, this stack becomes a pass. As it stands though, this is a good opportunity to get Kane, who's been playing extremely well, at low ownership. Since the return from the All-Star break Kane has seven goals, four assists, and has eclipsed 17 DraftKings points in all nine games. That is some great consistency at a very reasonable price. You can stack him with Max Domi ($4,600) who's racked up 11 points of his own during the same stretch. Consider Seth Jones ($5,900) as the best option to round out this stack.

If Kane were to miss this game, give the top line in Carolina of Sebastian Aho ($7,200), Andrei Svechnikov ($7,200), and Seth Jarvis ($4,500) a look. They draw the juicy matchup of the Ducks at home.

Cheap Stack to Build Around

The Flyers will be on a back-to-back tonight which is good news for the Devils. Jack Hughes ($8,500) will draw the most ownership in this one, but I wouldn't be afraid to target the line of Nico Hischier ($6,400), Dawson Mercer ($4,000), and Tomas Tatar ($3,400) for a fraction of the price of the Hughes line. Mercer is on a tear with seven goals since the break and Hischier and Tatar have kicked in three each of their own. For a cumulative salary under $14K, the line has a whole presents a solid value given the matchup on home ice.

Goalies

Between the pipes I'm typically looking to stack my goalie with one of my stacks from that lineup. However, if looking for a standalone option, I'd consider Jake Oettinger ($7,600). Oettinger had a rough outing last time out but before that he had averaged over 22 DraftKings points in his previous four starts. Expect a bounce back tonight for a goalie of his caliber.
