Ramblings: Hill Signs Extension, Draisaitl Reaches 100 Points, Weekend Streamers (Mar 15)

The Golden Knights and Adin Hill agreed to a six-year, $37.5 million contract extension on Friday. Hill's cap hit will increase from $4.9 million this season to $6.25 million starting next season. Hill has solidified himself as Vegas' starting goalie with solid numbers (24-11-4, 2.53 GAA, .906 SV%, 4 SO). The Stanley Cup-winning goalie has also been hot recently with five wins and five quality starts over his last six games.

Hill's goaltending partner Ilya Samsonov is among the goalies set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. As of today, this is what the UFA goalie market will look like:

Wearing #96 again after briefly lending the number to Mikko Rantanen (what a story), Jack Roslovic is probably enjoying life right now. Roslovic led the Hurricanes with a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win over Detroit on Friday. Roslovic now has four points over his last four games, rebounding from a dry spell in which he had just four points over his last 18 games.

Playing on Roslovic's line, Jesperi Kotkaniemi picked up two assists. Even though Kotkaniemi has now reached the 30-point mark for the second time in his career, he has now gone 13 games without a goal.

Recently acquired Petr Mrazek started for the Red Wings for the second time in as many games. He has allowed three goals in each game, picking up a win on Wednesday against Buffalo and a quality start on Friday (three goals allowed on 31 shots). After shipping Ville Husso to Anaheim in late February, the Wings are back to a three-headed monster in goal with Cam Talbot and Alex Lyon also looking for starts. The Wings are not an ideal team when it comes to goalie volume.

Lucas Raymond is now without a goal in 10 games. He has five assists over his last four games, although he was held without a point on Friday.

Leon Draisaitl scored two goals on Friday (one was the overtime winner over the Islanders), which makes him the second player to reach 100 points while leaving him just one goal shy of 50. Draisaitl is the runaway leader in the Rocket Richard race, as he is 13 goals clear of second place. He also has a 17-game point streak in which he has piled up 26 points. When all is said and done, Draisaitl might have some Hart Trophy votes coming his way. It's also worth mentioning that he has reached 100 points in four consecutive seasons and each of the last six seasons that have been at least 70 games.

The Kyle Connor/Mark Scheifele combo continues to pound opponents. Connor scored two goals and added an assist, while Scheifele assisted three times in a 4-1 win for the Jets over Dallas. Connor and Scheifele are tied for third in goals with 35 each, trailing only Draisaitl and William Nylander. Connor is not slowing down in his quest for 100 points, picking up 11 points over his last seven games.

Neal Pionk missed Friday's game and is considered week-to-week with a lower-body injury. It sounds like an issue that he has been battling through, so the intent might be to rest Pionk for the playoffs. Pionk has been a reliable defenseman for multicategory fantasy teams, as he was on pace for 45 points with over 200 combined hits and blocked shots.

As for myself, I dodged a bullet recently by turning down a trade offer that would have sent me Pionk. That is my absolute worst fear in making a trade in a non-keeper league.

The Flames accomplished the rare feat of holding all of Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, and Martin Necas off the scoresheet on Friday, but they still lost to the Avalanche by a score of 4-2. Parker Kelly was the unexpected scoring leader for the Avs, scoring a pair of goals. Ross Colton picked up two assists, giving him five points over his last four games.

Jonathan Huberdeau may never be a 100-point scorer again. However, Huberdeau is on pace for a career high in goals (31), scoring his team-leading 25th goal of the season on Friday. Huberdeau now has goals in back-to-back games. The increased goal production has improved his fantasy value, although a 20.3 SH% suggests that regression should happen at some point.

Flames captain Mikael Backlund missed Friday's game. Backlund is currently listed as week-to-week with an upper-body injury.

Forgive me for being out of touch, but I had no idea that Jakub Vrana is now with Nashville. Vrana scored his first goal as a Predator on the power play while taking four shots on net. He was on a line with fellow new Predator Michael Bunting and Fedor Svechkov, logging just 11:19. In case you were like me and didn't know either (I was probably consumed with other trades at the time), Vrana was picked up off waivers from Washington a week ago. Now a fringe NHLer, Vrana is not worth rostering in fantasy leagues.

Alex Killorn and Troy Terry each scored for the Ducks in their 2-1 win over Nashville.

In the Kraken's 4-2 win over Utah, Eeli Tolvanen scored two goals while adding an assist. Tolvanen now has a career-high 21 goals, as well as goals in back-to-back games and five points over his last three games. All of this while logging next-to-no power-play time for Seattle. That limits Tolvanen's scoring upside, although he makes up for it in bangers leagues with over 200 hits in each of the past two seasons.

With a goal on Friday, Brandon Montour now has six goals and nine points over his past seven games. In his first season in Seattle, Montour is the icetime leader for the Kraken (23:09).

Since returning from the AHL, Philipp Grubauer has allowed just three goals combined in two games, posting wins and quality starts in both. Grubauer stopped 23 of 25 shots he faced on Friday.

Are you in a fantasy playoff match now? Fighting for a playoff spot in your league? Let's set you up with some possible streamers this weekend from teams that play both Saturday and Sunday. Those teams are Florida, NY Rangers, St. Louis, Vancouver, and Vegas, so one from each team.

Mackie Samoskevich – At the top of the list of Frozen Tools popular profiles, Samoskevich has six points over his last six games. The last five of those six points have all been on the power play, where Samoskevich is skating on the top unit due to Matthew Tkachuk's injury. Over those six games spanning the entire month of March, Samoskevich also has 20 shots and 20 hits, filling plenty of boxes in multicategory leagues.

Zac Jones – Even though he is filling in on the Rangers' top power play with Adam Fox out, Jones hasn't exactly set the world on fire. However, a positive sign for Jones is that he had a strong multicategory game on Thursday with one assist, six penalty minutes, three shots, four hits, and two blocks in 21:28. He's readily available, rostered in only 1 percent of Yahoo leagues and 16 percent of Fantrax leagues.

Jake Neighbours – A popular streamer that you are probably familiar with by now, Neighbours has points in back-to-back games. He also averages about two hits per game playing for a Blues team that is fighting for the final playoff spot in the West.

Filip Hronek – The Canucks blueliner has seven points in his last five games, still playing a ton (28:07) even with Quinn Hughes' return to the lineup on Wednesday. Hronek is rostered in exactly half of Yahoo leagues, so this might only be a recommendation for shallow leagues.

If you're looking for a Canuck and feeling lucky, you could add the struggling Arturs Silovs this weekend. The Canucks went with Kevin Lankinen for back-to-backs on Tuesday and Wednesday, so I think they could go with Silovs tonight (Saturday) against Chicago and let Lankinen start the game with more playoff implications on Sunday against Utah. Check GoaliePost for the latest starting goalie info.

Pavel Dorofeyev – Like Neighbours, Dorofeyev is another popular streamer, although word has gotten out on him to the point where he is now rostered in one-third of Yahoo leagues. Only Tomas Hertl has more goals among Golden Knights than Dorofeyev (26), who also has four points in his last three games and is now getting reps on the top power play.
