Happy Tuesday everyone! We're in Week 10 of the season and this is about the time where I start looking at my rosters and see in which direction I want to move my teams. For the dynasty/keeper leagues, are we pushing in the chips and going on a playoff run or do we want to start selling some veterans and plan for the following year. These decisions can be tough, but they are crucial to long-term success and need to be addressed. 

This week, we have six teams that play four games, but all six of those teams only play on one light night (Sunday) with the other three games on their schedule being on heavier nights. There are two teams that play all three of their games on the light days (Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday) and those teams are the Seattle Kraken and Utah Mammoth. The only other franchise that has more than one light day game is the Chicago Blackhawks, who play on Wednesday and Friday.

The Kraken have two of their three games against teams in the bottom half of the league when it comes to save percentage and one guy who seems undervalued right now is Jordan Eberle. I know hockey is a young man's game, but we have found some good value with some of these savvy veterans recently and he is next on our list. The former first rounder is on a three-game point streak (one powerplay goal and two assists in his last three), playing on the top line with Jared McCann and Matty Beniers, and is averaging almost 20 minutes a night.

The right-winger also provides some nice shots on goal and contributes to other peripheral categories (3 SOG,1 hit last night against the Wild), and his current shooting percentage is right around his 16-year career average so we do not expect any crazy regression from what he is currently giving us. He is widely available, only being rostered in 13% of Yahoo leagues and 38% on Fantrax.

The next squad we'll look at is the Mammoth and they just received some devastating news concerning one of their main superstars, Logan Cooley. After his leg made hard contact with the net after falling in their game on Friday, it was determined he will be out indefinitely because of a leg injury. The first player tapped to fill in Cooley's skates was Barrett Hayton.

Hayton, the former fifth overall pick, had a resurgent season last year by setting career highs in goals and assists and because he was only 24 years old then, many (myself included) thought it was a bounce back campaign. However, we have not seen the same Hayton in 2025, and it has led to him being a healthy scratch for Utah recently. He has not done much in the two games since replacing Cooley, so the leash is shortening, but we'll give him a couple of games to get his feet wet before moving on.

Nick Schmaltz was the beneficiary of Cooley's powerplay time as he moved up to the top unit. He has had great chemistry all year with JJ Peterka and Clayton Keller, but the boost in powerplay potential scoots him up our rankings for the time being.

The third team with multiple light day games is the Blackhawks. They just had a historically terrible end to their west coast road trip so we don't know if line changes will occur yet, but they have made some roster moves as they sent two players down to the AHL. If lines don't change, Ryan Greene has been skating with Connor Bedard the last few games and is only 1% owned in Yahoo leagues. He is a guy I would look at for DFS or deeper leagues on Wednesday and Friday. 

Greene's stat line does not pop out at you, but if you look at his actual game, he has a chance to put up points every night, which is why I like him on the lighter days. First, he has the line mates; he has been playing with Bedard five-on-five recently and if that sticks, you can't ask for a better linemate. Second, the coaches trust him; he averages a minute with the extra man and is one of the more reliable penalty killers on the team (he has only played in 31 NHL games, so this screams that the coaches have faith in him).

One player who has benefited from David Pastrnak being out has been Alex Steeves (who?). The undrafted winger has been matched with Boston's top line of Elias Lindholm and Morgan Geekie and has recorded three goals and four points in his last three games. 

Pastrnak has said he feels like he could return at some point on the Bruin's three game road trip so we don't necessarily like Steeves schedule for this week, but he is someone to monitor because if he keeps scoring before Pasta gets back, it would be tough for coach Strum to take him out of their lineup.
