DFS Thursday: Boston’s Top Line Spot; Celebrini at Home; Saros is Solid, and More

Good morning, everyone and welcome back! I hope that you had an enjoyable break.
I think we remember how to do this, right? I played a Devils second line and Washington second line pair and judging how there's no email from DraftKings this morning, I'm guessing I missed cash. Wild guess, I know.
I'm treating today's slate like it's the first week of the season – I want known entities or good trends to follow – because remember – in DFS, trends are our friends. With that, let's see if there's some money to be made tonight on the DFS streets.
Slate Preview
Boston Bruins
The Bruins are at home against the Columbus Blue Jackets, and though these two clubs haven't seen each other since December of 2024 (wild, I know), this could be a Boston club in a solid spot. The Bruins have 21 home wins on the season, and that's good for top three in the league. Mix that in with Elvis Merzlikins potentially getting the start in net, and we may have just found our main stack of the night. If I'm playing the Bruins, it's top line lock and load, and I don't know if I'd leave anyone off that stack as I can grab fillers from Carolina, San Jose, or even depth Blues. Boston will be in my mix in single entry, where my only hesitancy and potential pivot would be if they become a popular play.
Toronto Maple Leafs
I've said it before, but the most difficult round Florida faced last year in playoffs might have been against Toronto, and there issomething to be said for that during this regular season. In both matchups so far on the year, Toronto has won easily with the same 4-1 outcome. They're going to be going up against Sergei Bobrovsky, who was shaky before the break, and with a team in front of him that ranks higher in the league in minorpenaltiestaken. I don't think I would be full-on stack either of the top two Leaf lines, as there's a lack of power play correlation and I have cold feet right now on rostering John Tavares. For me, it's some sort of Auston Matthews – William Nylander, two-man and I'll throw in a cheap defenseman like Jake McCabe into my mix. Matthew Kniesis also in considerationif I want to get into the depth lines. Doing this might allow you to spend up a bit on the net and not deplete your spending if you were looking into playing expensive Colorado or Edmonton tonight. Toronto pairs well with Carolina Two, or even parts of the other side of this matchup if you were looking to potentially game stack.
San Jose Sharks
If you want to just pick your two-man fillers from San Jose, that's perfectly in play tonight at home in a good matchup against Calgary, just be sure that Macklin Celebrini is part of that duo. I was playing around with lineups this morning and did notice that you can take the San Jose top line plus the Montreal top line into a lineup, anddoing so gives you around $7,100 in net. That might not seem like a lot, but Spencer Knight, Filip Gustavsson, and Joseph Wollareall going to be $7,300-and-under options on this slate. Calgary has been one of the lower clubs this season as far as road records go, putting the Sharks in a good spot for tonight.
Defense
For me, the top of the board is probably Darren Raddysh at $6K as I don't think this is a slate to where you have to open the vault for your blueline. Moritz Seider at $5,600 is always in play, along with the two defensemen below him in price: Dougie Hamilton at $5,500 and Lane Hutson at $5,400. Really, you could even go with a double-defensemen stack from the Canadiens with Noah Dobson priced at an even $5K. For the $4K d-men, Darnell Nurse is fine at $4,300. Cheap defensemen tonight, you're looking at Colton Parayko at $3,400 or Brett Kulak on his new club priced at $2,900.
Goalies
I only have four goaltenders written down today, so that should tell you all that you need to know with all these returning clubs and ones on a back-to-back. Juuse Saros, priced up at $8,200,is in play for me as he's in a terrific spot at home going up against the Hawks. I can't see myself spending up to James Reimer at $8,100 in single-entry, but in multiple that might be an interesting play and one that could be less popular. Ilya Sorokin is at $7,400 and also at +115/+125 for a Vezina, depending on what book you look at, and he also makes for a good option in net if you're not rostering the Habs. Jacob Markstrom will be in line for the start tonight and is fine at $7,200.
That's it for now, best of luck tonight everybody and enjoy the break!
