Lining Up: Tortorella in Vegas; St. Louis’ Productive Second Line; Colorado’s Schedule, and More

Happy Tuesday y'all! If you are reading this, you are either still in the hunt for a fantasy championship or you are just a dedicated player. Either way, I appreciate you and good luck moving forward!

The big news over the weekend was the Vegas Golden Knights firing Bruce Cassidy and hiring John Tortorella. A complete shocker given the time of season, but if you think about it, the move makes perfect sense. This deal is only for the rest of the regular season and playoffs, so he is going to be as hard as *insert joke here* on his new team, knowing there is really no tomorrow except to give everything for Lord Stanley right now.

The Golden Knights won their first game under Torts, 4-2, against the Vancouver Canucks (let's be honest, if they had lost that game, there would be way bigger issues). The one big move the new coaching staff put into place was swapping Mitch Marner and Jack Eichel, meaning Marner was with Mark Stone and Ivan Barbashev and Eichel was with Pavel Dorofeyev and Brett Howden.

The offensive chances will probably take a hit under Torts as he'll make sure his team is playing within his structure, so I feel this was a move to shore up their end of the rink. Marner is more of a 200-foot player so pairing him with Marner and Barbashev will create that completely responsible line.

Eichel will go out there to try and set up Dorofeyev for one timers and wreak havoc in the offensive zone. The Stone line scored in transition last night as Theodore jumped into the play and Torts was able to roll all four lines.

We have some nice schedules this week as some of the league's hottest and top teams play the majority of light night games this week.

The St. Louis Blues have three games remaining, all on the coveted Wednesday, Friday, Sunday schedule. Making a push for the playoffs, they suffered a devastating loss last night in San Jose, but their top line of Dylan Holloway, Robert Thomas, and Jimmy Snuggerud is still on fire. Snuggerud is available in 69% (nice) of leagues right now and the rookie contributes across the board.

Where we will find value is their second line of Jordan Kyrou, Pavel Buchnevich, and Jake Neighbours. Kyrou is under 50% owned, Buchnevich is under 25%, and Neighbours is under 10%. The trio accumulated four points last night and will be asked to carry the mail on the road while teams will focus on that top line.

The Colorado Avalanche also have three more games this week, two of them being on light nights (Wednesday and Sunday) with a juicy matchup against the Vancouver Canucks in their next contest. The Avs dropped NINE goals on the Calgary Flames last night and everyone on that team is buzzing. Gabriel Landeskog is the ultimate captain because he truly does energize that team when he is in the lineup. All of the injuries make him a tough own for fantasy purposes, but when he is in the lineup, he contributes all across the board. Available in over 60% of Yahoo leagues, he is a guy to lean on for the remainder of the week.

Along with the Avalanche, the Philadelphia Flyers and Anaheim Ducks also have two more games on light nights.

The Flyers haven't really been carried by a specific line in their recent resurgence, but one player I like for this week is Noah Cates. He plays with Matvei Michkov at even strength, averages two minutes of powerplay time, and contributes across the board, if your league counts peripheral stats.

The Ducks play their light nights on Wednesday and Friday. I loaded up on Maple Leafs and Ducks last night because one of my leagues count hits and PIMs, luckily Pezzetta racked those up for me.

Mikael Granlund has been red-hot for Anaheim, scoring eight points in his last six games and is owned in only 40% of Yahoo leagues. Playing with rookie Beckett Senecke (44% owned) and Alex Killorn (3%), you get a mix of a skilled rookie and a clutch veteran, with all three being defensively responsible, which will add to Coach Q's trust and give them those extra shifts late in the game.

Thanks again for reading and good luck to everyone this week!
