DFS Tuesday: Boston’s Reliable Top Line; Los Angeles’ Great Matchup; Sergachev’s Hot Streak, and More

Morning, all! I didn't end up playing yesterday, but I'm really looking forward to today's slate. For DFS (and for those still grinding in fantasy playoffs), the NHL landscape is tricky right now with so many teams beginning to rest players. Because of that, I'm leaning heavily toward "sure things"—stable lines and teams that still have something meaningful to play for, whether it's a playoff spot or seeding. Only a few of these slates left, so let's enjoy them!

Slate Preview

Boston Bruins

I am playing the Boston Bruins if, and only if, their top line is constructed the way that it was during a morning skate on Sunday. That line would be (by pricing), David Pastrnak, $8,800, Morgan Geeke, $5K, and Elias Lindholm, $4,100. That line was good at the beginning of the season and will be fully correlated on the power-play.

At even strength, it's a difficult matchup with the New Jersey's top-line being as good as they are defensively, but I don't so much worry about anything the Devils are going to roll out in net, and this is also a Bruins club that has been great on home ice this season. In single entry or above, I'm considering Boston in my mix. Plus, hey, the Bruins aren't a bad hang as far as broadcasts in the NHL go. I always seem to enjoy them.

Washington Capitals

Even if this were a random 11‑game slate in January, I'd still have interest in Washington against the ColumbusBlue Jackets. I want reliability tonight, which means I'm going straight to the power play. I'm past worrying about which line Connor McMichael is on or who's centering the second line—it's PP or nothing.

Washington has averaged around 25 shots on goal over their last three games, and Columbus has been shaky on the penalty kill recently. The Caps are technically eliminated, but if you're hunting for a man‑advantage spot to attack, this is a good one.

Los Angeles Kings

If you caught our DFS hit on social this morning, you know I highlighted the Kings as a strong play against our 2026 favorite team to oppose —the Vancouver Canucks. That was before L.A. qualified for the postseason, but I'm still on board the Kings train for this one.

Will they be chalky? Absolutely. But I'd rather invest in a fully correlated Kings top line in a great matchup than pivot to other likely popular spots like whatever depth line Colorado rolls out, a Philadelphia Flyersteam with nothing to play for, or—painfully—Carolina's second line, which has been a favorite all season. If you want to get different, the Kings' second or third lines also make plenty of sense.

Defense

You don't need to spend much more than $5,800 on defense tonight. Mikhail Sergachev stands out as a top option with 12 assists in his last five games. Just below him, Lane Hutson grades out well in a favorable matchup against the Flyers. Filip Hronek continues to log big minutes and is a solid mid‑range play at $4,500. Travis Sanheim and Sean Walker each have six points in their last seven games, priced at $4,400 and $4,300 respectively, and both are perfectly viable. While salary relief likely won't be necessary on this slate, Martin Fehervary at $3,000 is my preferred punt if you need it.

Goalies

I have four goalies on my board, with all but one in strong matchups. At this point in the season, I'm prioritizing win potential over sheer volume. That brings us to Scott Wedgewood at $8,200 in a great spot against the Calgary Flames. Jesper Wallstedt should draw the start against the Anaheim Ducks at $8,100 and makes for another strong option. Jakub Dobeš might be in the toughest matchup of the group, but he's been excellent for a month straight, and at $7,900 he's still firmly in play if he starts. Right below him, Logan Thompson versus the Jackets makes plenty of sense, even if you're fading the Capitals in your main stack.

That's it for now, best of luck tonight!
