Key Prospects for Boston and Carolina

Welcome fantasy managers to another edition of the Eastern Edge. This week we'll take a closer look at a couple of Carolina Hurricanes prospects in Bradly Nadeau and Felix Unger-Sorum. Meanwhile, we'll check in with a couple of players firmly entrenched in the Boston Bruins pipeline in James Hagens and towering 6'7" centerman Dean Letourneau.

Let's get to it!

Bradly Nadeau

The 5'11" 180lbs forward is arguably Carolina's top prospect possessing one heck of a shot as

evidenced by his back-to-back seasons of 25 goals or more over the course of his first

two professional campaigns with the Hurricanes AHL affiliate the Chicago Wolves.

Nadeau has been quite productive at every level and that was no different once he joined the

Wolves for the 2024-2025 season as the then 19-year old had himself a phenomenal rookie

year putting up 32 goals and 26 assists totaling 58 points in 64 games played.

The New Brunswick native followed that up with an even more impressive showing this past season by notching 27 goals accompanied by 29 assists for a total of 56 points in only 52 games played. A marked improvement in points per game from 0.91 to 1.08, all before his age twenty-one season.

Nadeau has served notice during his brief cups of coffee at the NHL level in particular due to his

pro ready release scoring three goals while adding one assist in his 15 games played for the

Hurricanes to date. It no longer seems to be a matter of if so much as a matter of when as it

relates to the organization's top prospect, I would expect the twenty-one year old to be the first

call up to Carolina in case of injury.

Felix Unger-Sorum

Felix Unger-Sorum has certainly made a name for himself after a highly successful campaign in

the AHL with the Chicago Wolves as the Norwegian forward led the Wolves in scoring with a

very solid 17 goals and 49 assists totaling 66 points over the course of 72 games played in his second campaign with Chicago.

This after a decent rookie campaign that saw Unger-Sorum put up five goals and 15 assists in 61 games played. A smart playmaking forward who demonstrates excellent vision, which has allowed him to transition rather smoothly to the North American style as he continues to build on his overall game. The skilled right winger finished the AHL season firmly entrenched in the league's top ten in scoring, establishing his play-driving abilities while improving his plus / minus by a noticeable 23 points which is not overly surprising when you consider the organization's

philosophy of puck possession all while being responsible defensively.

Between both Unger-Sorum and Nadeau the next wave of talented Hurricanes seems to be in

good hands with the added bonus of gaining invaluable experience in the Calder Cup playoffs

as the Wolves almost matched the parent club in Carolina but ultimately fell to the Toronto Marlies in the Calder Cup Final. Quite simply the rich get richer, which suits the rabid Hurricanes fanbase just fine.

James Hagens

The Bruins seventh overall pick in the 2025 NHL entry draft enjoyed a solid D+1 campaign for Boston College as the 19-year-old centerman put up totals of 23 goals, 24 assists for a 47 point season in only 34 games played increasing his points per game from 1.00 in 2024-2025 to 1.38 in 2025-2026.

Hagens continued to impress in his short stint with the Bruins AHL affiliate in Providence where he produced one goal and three assists for a total in only 6 games played towards the end of the year displaying his elite vision in the process.

The Bruins aren't exactly flush with high-end prospects in the pipeline so Hagens will get a very long look in training camp come September and could very well be a sizable contributor to Boston's roster as early as the 2026-2027 campaign. It doesn't hurt that the young forward gained valuable experience suiting up for team USA at the men's World Championships this past May, an experience that he can take with him as he looks to crack the main roster this fall.

Dean Letourneau

The Bruins towering centerman sure did turn things around in his sophomore campaign at Boston College as Letourneau turned a horrendous freshman year (zero goals, three assists in 36 games played) into a point per game sophomore season as the Bruins blue-chipper notched 22 goals, 17 assists for a total of 39 points in 36 games played.

Quite simply the 6'7" forward has gone from a project to a vital part of the Boston Bruins prospect pipeline as the youngster has more certainly found the confidence that was clearly missing in his freshman campaign. Letourneau is already turning heads at the Bruins development camp demonstrating a rather underrated skillset for such a large frame.

Aside from the silky hands, Letourneau has a blistering shot as well and he certainly knows how to use it as evidenced by his 22-goal campaign in 2025-2026. If the Bruins can develop the raw talent that Letourneau possesses, they could have themselves a Tage Thompson clone who's combination of size and skill could potentially take over several moments in any given matchup.

The Boston Bruins may just have their future number one centerman working his way up the pipeline and if the 20-year old can reach his ceiling we may just have another menacing forward to deal with in the battleground that is the Atlantic division.
