It sounds as if Radim Vrbata is asking for too much money from the Coyotes. The Yotes are playing hardball, saying – and rightfully so – that they have a lot of great young kids on the cusp and while they would like to have Vrbata back, the price would have to be reasonable. If Vrbata goes somewhere else, I don't trust that he could get 60 points. If he remains in Phoenix, then I think he could get 70. If he were to flee – then the odds of Kevin Porter, Blake Wheeler and/or Brett MacLean making the team pretty much double.
None of Jere Lehtinen, Stu Barnes or Philippe Boucher will play tonight.
Apparently, Calgary and Daymond Langkow have a verbal contract agreement. All that they are waiting for is word on the salary cap for next year, and then it will be announced.
Dion Phaneuf has 15 goals in three straight seasons before he turned 22. Only Bobby Orr, Ray Bourque, Denis Potvin, Paul Coffey and Phil Housley can say that. Not bad company at all.
I rant about the Philly Flyers right HERE .
From the Boston Globe: The Bruins have resigned themselves to being unable to sign Russian defenseman Yuri Alexandrov, whom they picked 37th in the 2006 draft. He will go back into this year's draft and the Bruins, said Chiarelli, will not receive a compensatory pick.
