Eric Maltais, who pens Croaks, from the Fantasy Frog, gives you his take on most of the players from a fantasy standpoint. Some may differ from what you find in the DobberHockey Fantasy Guide, but it’s good to have several viewpoints.

UFA GP G A PTS +/- PIM PP SOG Pct TOI PPTOI
Pacioretty, Max LW MON 34 3 8 11 -3 27 3 57 5.3 12.62 1.45
Should have a regular spot next season, but will take time to develop.
Pahlsson, Samuel C CHI X 65 7 11 18 -17 34 3 88 8 18.29 0.96
Only has value in very deep leagues for his faceoff prowess.
Paille, Daniel LW BUF 73 12 15 27 0 20 0 80 15 11.90 0.08
A little firecracker with limited potential.
Parise, Zach C NJ 82 45 49 94 30 24 30 364 12.4 18.76 3.69
Beautiful player to watch, would score 50 with most other teams.
Park, Richard RW NYI 71 14 17 31 -13 34 7 138 10.1 17.17 1.63
Half his production came in one month (from mid-December to mid-January). A lot more valuable in the NHL than in fantasy.
Parrish, Mark RW DAL X 44 8 5 13 -3 18 5 46 17.4 11.27 1.89
Will have trouble finding a roster spot in the NHL next season.
Parros, George RW ANA 74 5 5 10 8 135 0 47 10.6 6.26 0.05
Disappointing PIM numbers for Parros.
Pavelski, Joe C SJ 80 25 34 59 5 46 23 266 9.4 18.96 3.03
Establishing himself as a 60-point player.
Peca, Michael C CLB X 71 4 18 22 -6 58 1 74 5.4 14.10 0.89
Keeps sinking into oblivion.
Peltonen, Ville LW FLA X 79 12 19 31 6 31 1 121 9.9 15.25 0.46
Nothing more than a 30-point player.
Penner, Dustin RW EDM 78 17 20 37 7 61 11 137 12.4 15.36 2.96
Very, very inconsistent, had 10 multi-point games despite his low overall total. His ice time has suffered a huge drop if it wasn’t for his huge contract I would have expected him to be traded.
Perrin, Eric C ATL X 78 7 16 23 -2 36 2 109 6.4 14.18 0.83
A very disappointing season since there was hope for 50 points from him.
Perron, David LW STL 81 15 35 50 13 50 15 161 9.3 14.53 3.22
Always a good sign when you progress nicely in your sophomore season. He’ll continue improving next year and top 60 points.
Perry, Corey RW ANA 78 32 40 72 10 109 24 283 11.3 18.60 3.45
Following pretty much the exact same career curve as Getzlaf.
Pesonen, Janne LW PIT X 7 0 0 0 -3 0 0 3 0 7.45 0.36
Had an excellent season in the AHL and will get a shot at making the team in camp. Could do very well if matched with Malkin.
Petersen, Toby RW DAL 57 4 7 11 1 14 0 80 5 11.42 0.18
See Steve Begin
Pettinger, Matt LW TB X 59 8 7 15 -14 24 2 82 9.8 12.32 0.42
He doesn’t really belong in the NHL anymore.
Peverley, Rich C ATL 66 15 29 44 13 33 7 117 12.8 16.08 2.26
This hot waiver wire pickup scored 35 points in 39 games with the Thrashers, but don’t expect that kind of production next season. I’ll be surprised if he exceeds 50 points.
Phaneuf, Dion D CGY 80 11 36 47 -11 100 21 277 4 26.53 5.57
Really expected more from Phaneuf following three seasons of at least 17 goals and his 60 points last year. His power play production hasn’t been up to par, expect a big rebound next season.
Phillips, Chris D OTT 82 6 16 22 -14 66 3 88 6.8 21.87 0.61
His career high is 26 points.
Picard, Alexandre D OTT 47 6 8 14 -2 8 10 72 8.3 18.90 3.44
Saw way too much power play and didn’t do enough with it. Won’t have such a major role next season.
Pisani, Fernando RW EDM 38 7 8 15 -1 14 0 72 9.7 15.28 0.29
Not worth much even when he is healthy other than the few hot streaks he’s had over his career.
Pitkanen, Joni D CAR 71 7 26 33 11 58 14 147 4.8 24.80 4.04
Typical of what you should expect from Pitkanen for the next few years.
Plekanec, Tomas LW MON 80 20 19 39 -9 54 12 202 9.9 17.26 3.01
Huge drop after scoring 69 points last season which was achieved in great part thanks to Kovalev and A.Kostitsyn. Can rebound, but will need a top winger to do so.
Plihal, Tomas C SJ 64 5 8 13 -4 22 0 79 6.3 10.15 0.16
Never did well in the AHL and won’t do better in the NHL.
Polak, Roman D STL 69 1 14 15 -15 45 5 73 1.4 21.52 2.01
Will most probably never break the 20-point barrier.
Pominville, Jason RW BUF 82 20 46 66 -4 18 24 239 8.4 19.75 3.98
A huge bust following a season of 80 points. Should bounce back to at least 25 goals next season.
Ponikarovsky, Alexei LW TOR 82 23 38 61 6 38 13 185 12.4 15.78 2.15
Excellent season and I think he’ll repeat next year as Grabovski and Kulemin get better.
Poti, Tom D WAS 52 3 10 13 3 28 2 48 6.2 21.19 1.46
His days as a contributor on offense are behind him.
Pouliot, Benoit LW MIN 37 5 6 11 1 18 4 34 14.7 11.84 2.04
Not looking like a fourth overall draft pick at all.
Pouliot, Marc-Antoine C EDM 63 8 12 20 1 23 2 94 8.5 11.51 1.01
Having a hard time establishing himself, he needs to go elsewhere to take a step forward.
Preissing, Tom D LA 22 3 4 7 -7 6 5 40 7.5 16.75 3.88
Needs to start over somewhere else.
Pronger, Chris D ANA 82 11 37 48 0 88 28 196 5.6 26.94 4.45
Whether the Ducks keep him or not, he still has a few more good seasons in him.
Prospal, Vaclav LW TB 82 19 26 45 -20 52 15 194 9.8 17.67 3.29
If you don’t know the trend, here is Prospal’s point production over the last seven seasons; 55,79,54,80,55,71,45. The trend would indicate a big year in 2009-10, but I’m not buying into it.
Prucha, Petr C PHO 47 6 13 19 -1 22 5 67 9 14.69 1.81
While he was decent in Phoenix, I really don’t think he can reach 40 points next season.
Prust, Brandon C PHO 36 1 2 3 -8 108 0 23 4.3 7.46 0.12
If he plays 60 games he’ll be in the 200 penalty minute range.
Purcell, Teddy RW LA 40 4 12 16 -4 4 10 68 5.9 13.52 2.80
I’m not convinced he’ll spend the entire season in the NHL either next year.
Pyatt, Taylor LW VAN X 69 10 9 19 0 43 1 99 10.1 14.71 0.90
More has been expected of him in his career, probably just a 40-point guy at best.
