NHL Injury updates on Justin Faulk, Rick Nash, Mike Cammalleri, Jakub Voracek, Jori Lehtera and more
Will Rick Nash ever return? Back in late January, he was expected to be able to play after the All-Star break and look where we are now. Get the latest updates on him and more in the latest IR Report.
Arizona Coyotes: Viktor Tikhonov– Technically, Tikhonov isn’t injured but he did miss Monday’s game so I thought I’d put him on the list. He left the Coyotes temporarily to be with his wife while she is expected to give birth.
Buffalo Sabres: Cody Franson– Tuesday’s game marked Franson’s fifth straight game that he’s missed due to a persisting neck injury. Consider him day-to-day.
Carolina Hurricanes: Justin Faulk– Faulk is still day-to-day with a nagging leg injury.
Carolina Hurricanes: Andrej Nestrasil– Nestrasil is out for the rest of the season with an fractured vertebrae after being injured in Thursday night’s game.
Columbus Blue Jackets: Jack Johnson– An upper-body injury will keep Johnson out of the Blue Jackets lineup indefinitely.
Dallas Stars: Ales Hemsky– Hemsky made his return to the ice after dealing with an illness.
Dallas Stars: Kris Russell– Russell skated on a pairing with Jodie Benn on Tuesday after missing the past seven games with a lower-body injury.
Dallas Stars: Patrick Eaves– An illness is expected to keep Eaves out of action for a week.
Detroit Red Wings: Metr Mrazek- Mrazek is day-to-day with a tender groin. Jared Coreau was called up from the minors to backup Jimmy Howard on Monday.
Edmonton Oilers: Benoit Pouliot– A shoulder injury will keep Pouliot off the ice for a while. Coach Todd McLellan was quoted saying that Pouliot’s injury is “still long term. Shoulder injury, not day-to-day, and he’s got to see some doctors and have some tests to figure out what long term really is. He won’t play for a little while for sure.”
Florida Panthers: Dave Bolland– The Florida Panthers have placed Dave Bolland on injured reserve. It is expected that Bolland will be out for the rest of the year.
Florida Panthers: Derek MacKenzie– MacKenzie has been put on injured reserve by the Panthers.
Florida Panthers: Al Montoya– Panther’s backup goalie Al Montoya exited Sunday’s game early after being elbowed in the head by Marco Scandella. Al Montoya was having a really good season for the Panthers, winning nine of his 16 games while posting an average save percentage .928. He was playing so well, in fact, that the Panthers were afforded the luxury of resting Luongo every once in a while and playing Montoya instead. With Montoya now injured, for presumably a while, the Panthers will rely on Luongo more and start him in more games.
Los Angeles Kings: Jordan Nolan– Nolan has been placed on injured reserve by the Kings.
Montreal Canadiens: Nathan Beaulieu– It was reported that Beaulieu will likely miss two to three weeks with a lower-body injury so he is expected to return in a week or two.
Nashville Predators: Shea Weber– Weber returned Nashville’s lineup on Tuesday after missing the past three games with a lower-body injury.
New Jersey Devils: Mike Cammalleri– While there were reports saying Cammalleri might be making his return soon, it was announced that he has suffered a setback and will not close to playing. Cammalleri might not be able to play for the rest of the season. His absence severely hurts the Devi’s offensive capabilities and hurts most of the forwards on the roster. In the 42 games that Cammalleri has played in for the Devils, he’s tallied 14 goals and 24 assists. In the 14 games that Cammalleri has missed so far, the Devils have only averaged 1.86 goals per game. If Cammalleri misses a lot of time, it could spell trouble for the Devil’s offense.
New Jersey Devils: Jacob Josefson– Josefson was able to play in New Jersey’s game against the Hurricanes on Tuesday and is fully healed from his injury.
New York Rangers: Jesper Fast– Fast was unable to play in Monday’s game against the Blue Jackets after coming down with the flu.
New York Rangers: Rick Nash– Nash is expected to start lower-body workouts in about a week and is slowly recovering from a leg injury that has kept him on the shelf since January 22. However, a return date wasn’t specified and it is unknown when Nash might be able to return to the lineup.
Ottawa Senators: Kyle Turris– Turris has been shut down indefinitely because of an ankle injury. With Turris out of the lineup,
Ottawa Senators: Clarke MacArthur– After missing all but four games this season due to a concussion, it looks like Clarke MacArthur might make his return on Thursday night.
Ottawa Senators: Craig Anderson – Anderson left the game Tuesday with a leg injury. The Sens hope that he won't be out long, but he is definitely not playing Thursday's game.
Philadelphia Flyers: Jakub Voracek– A lower-body injury will cause Voracek to miss the next two weeks of action.
Pittsburgh Penguins: Ben Lovejoy– Lovejoy has been placed on injured reserve with a long-term upper-body injury.
St. Louis Blues: Jori Lehtera– Lehtera is expected to return to the Blues lineup this week after dealing with an upper-body injury.
Tampa Bay Lightning: Jason Garrison– Garrison returned from his lower-body injury on Monday and logged 16 minutes of ice time.
Toronto Maple Leafs: Byron Froese– In Saturday’s contest against the Canadiens, Forese broke his hand and will be out for a while.
Vancouver Canucks: Matt Bartkowski– After missing Saturday’s game with the flu, Bartkowski returned to the ice on Tuesday to play against the Islanders.
Vancouver Canucks: Radim Vrbata– A lower-body injury will keep Vrbata day-to-day.
Washington Capitals: John Carlson– Carlson is projected to be out of the lineup for the next three-to-four weeks with a lower-body injury. The Capitals have placed him on long-term injured reserve. With Carlson out of the lineup, expect to see Matt Niskanen’s name in the scorebox more often. Back when Carlson was injured in January, Niskanen score eight points in 12 games.
Washington Capitals: Michael Latta– Latta is day-to-day with the flu.
Winnipeg Jets: Bryan Little– Little is out for the season with a compressed fractured vertebra.
Winnipeg Jets: Mark Stuart– Stuart has been placed on injured reserve after injuring his hand blocking a shot.
