DFS Tuesday: Fleury Bounces Back, Barkov and Panarin Top Options

Today I'm beginning the transition from Yahoo DFS to the DraftKings site, which I prefer – although today I've intentionally made my selections similar for comparison. I'd prefer not to celebrate my results from Thursday, first truly spectacular "miss" of the season.

For today and Thursday, I'll list both the Yahoo and DraftKings fantasy costs. Y and DK for the first team, but it quickly becomes obvious.  Other than player valuation, the most important difference is that DraftKings only requires one goalkeeper, then has a Utility player (any position) instead.  Yes, goalies can rack up more points – or not – but they typically "cost" more as well. Depends on your strategy.   The fantasy budget is $200 for Yahoo and $50,000 for DraftKings.

My personal DFS lineup tonight:

Marc-Andre Fleury (Y, $31; DK, $8200) to come out of his funk at the Montreal Canadiens.  Flower is 24-13-6 all-time versus the Habs, including 2-0-0 last season with Chicago. In his last 14 starts at the Forum, he's allowed just 32 goals, GAA under 2.30. I've added Mats Zuccarello (Y, $22) and Calen Addison (Y, $12; DK, $3700) for my Minnesota stack. Wait – –  I couldn't afford Zuccarello in DraftKings, so replaced him with Marcus Foligno (DK,$2900).

Has there been a hotter defenseman this season than Rasmus Dahlin ($21, $7000)?  Playing vs. the Kraken, I've combined him with Tage Thompson ($17, $5100), who has been too quiet in fantasy stats recently. Seattle's Philipp Grubauer is out, and either Martin Jones (GAA 3.91) or Joey D'Accord gets the start.

For either betting site, I've left room for my stars – but no, not the Dallas ones on a B2B.  Aleksander Barkov ($30, $7300) against Chicago, and Artemi Panarin ($30, $7200), coming off an embarrassing 5-1 loss to Columbus.  From the Rangers, I added my low-cost but first-line Kaapo Kakko ($12, $3700).

This leaves me one more selection, and this clearly punctuates the difference in the two sites. For Yahoo, I need a second GK and I've spent my good money elsewhere.  After his first career win against the Rangers and with Elvis Merzlikins still out, I chose Daniil Tarasov ($24) vs the Yotes.  But in DraftKings, I can go with any position and couldn't afford a GK anyway…. Tomas Hertl ($4800), playing at home against Vegas and Adin Hill.

My picks aside (no promises), today was about the site differences.  I'll stand on my Fleury, Barkov, and Panarin picks, and see if the others can fill in enough points. Thursday I'll likely choose teammates or linemates to emphasize the site values that you can play to your advantage.

Happy (fantasy) hunting!
