DFS Saturday: Stack an Extra Rested Avalanche

It's been a funky schedule for the NHL this week with American Thanksgiving messing up the usual heavy day of Thursday. With all teams off, Wednesday and Friday did the heavy lifting instead with 15 and 13 games respectively. Between all those games yesterday coupled with a water main break, our typical 10 game or so Saturday slate has been cut in half and we're left with just five games. Being located within the States, I for one won't complain as I'm still recovering from Thursday's turkey coma. So on that note, let's run through a few places to target for this slate.

Top-Tier Stack to Pay Up For

I mentioned in the open about a water main break, and a team that might be benefitting from that are the Avalanche. Instead of playing a game in Nashville on Friday night and then traveling to Colorado to play again Saturday, the Avalanche's Friday game was postponed. Dallas meanwhile did play Friday, as well as Wednesday, making Saturday their third game in four nights. Also, with Jake Oettinger in the crease Friday I'd expect to see Scott Wedgewood going in this one, which is another boost for Colorado. Fire up the big guns here of Nathan MacKinnon ($9,400) and Mikko Rantanen ($8,200) and throw in Artturi Lehkonen ($5,600) who joins the duo on the top line and power play. If you're looking for a fourth it will be tough to fit in Cale Makar ($7,800) but Samuel Girard ($2,800) has just returned from injury and while he doesn't possess anywhere near the same offensive upside as Makar, he is priced just above the site minimum so one assist is all you need to pay off that tag.

Mid-Tier Stack to Target

Another one of the few teams who received an extra day of rest yesterday are the Vancouver Canucks. I'm going to stack them up in this one in the hopes a Vegas team coming in on a back-to-back gives up another four goals like they did on Friday. Vancouver doesn't give us the cleanest stacking options thanks to their power play pulling from three different lines, but in any case, I'm looking at Bo Horvat ($7,500), Elias Pettersson ($6,900), and J.T. Miller (5,550) as my three targets with Quinn Hughes ($5,600) being added in as the fourth. Those first three have accounted for eight goals and seven assists in the last four games alone. Hughes hasn't scored in that stretch but has kicked in another four assists.

Cheap Stack to Build Around

After a good start the Flyers have reverted to the team that many expected they'd be coming into the season, and that's not a very good one. The team has lost nine straight games entering this one and will be playing their second game in as many nights. The Islanders will be on the other end, and that's who I'm looking to stack. I'm going to the second line here where we find Brock Nelson ($5,500) and Anders Lee ($4,900) who will see time on the top power play, but also Anthony Beauvillier ($2,900) who is near minimum priced and can get hot at times offensively. Beauvillier has had a goal and 15 shot attempts in his last three games, which are more attempts than he had in his previous six games combined, so perhaps more goals are about to come and this would be the perfect matchup for it to happen.

Goalies

When it comes to goalies, I like to correlate mine with one of my stacks. However, if you're looking to just pluck a one off, I'd consider Spencer Martin ($7,200) tonight who's averaged over 15 DraftKings points in his last four starts thanks to the high shot volume he regularly sees and is priced about $1,000 cheaper than most of the other goalies on the slate. If he can hold Vegas to three goals or less, he will put up a respectable score.
