I wanted to run through the NHL and list off some of the biggest surprises for me thus far in the fantasy realm. Teams in order of NHL standings as of Nov 4: Boston Bruins: Believe it or not, but I’m not too surprised that they have been able to manage to survive the lack [...]
Happy weekend! I’m covering for Ian Saturday and Sunday, so you get an extra dose of Alex this week. * The Avalanche and Blue Jackets kicked off their weekend double header yesterday, with both games being hosted in Finland. We’ve seen a few of these overseas games in the middle of the season before, and [...]
We are a couple of weeks into the season and there are definitely a few slow starters that I’m looking into, some that I certainly didn’t expect to have to be worrying about this early. Vitek Vanecek – Goalies are the definition of fickle, and that’s especially the case in small sample sizes. When that [...]
The season is well underway now. We have fanbases panicking, parades being planned across half of the continent, and a whole bunch of news to cover. Meanwhile, on a fantasy level, we have at least one week under our belts, so you’re already seeing some direction from your team. Roto leaguers are just starting to [...]
Regular season games in North America are underway, and the full-fledged fantasy season is upon us! Last night started with two games, seeing the Rangers take on the Lightning in the battle of the fantasy first-round goalies. The late game saw the Kings and Golden Knights square-off in what was probably a slightly less anticipated [...]
We’re two days away from actual regular season games, your draft has probably happened already, or you may have one last one tonight (like me). Regardless, best of luck this upcoming year, and stay tuned around here for everything to get you through the year in the best position possible. * I put in [...]

Maybe it means you’re re-ranking your top-500 draft options for the 4,762nd time, or maybe it means you’re printing off last [...]
There is usually less change with the goalies than the skaters, but when there is a change the leaps forwards or backwards are much bigger. The movement can be accounted for with new contracts (Ilya Samsonov and Marc-Andre Fleury), injuries (the Vegas group), or a large change in projections. Trades have opened up slots for [...]
The last cap rankings before the season begins comes just as we are starting to see line combinations. It’s easy to get overwhelmed and overreact to them, so make sure you’re checking back in on all the DobberHockey rankings to keep your feet on the ground. Better yet, keep downloading that guide, which is getting [...]
Within the span of an hour yesterday we had retirement announcements from three excellent defencemen over the last two decades, with Zdeno Chara, P.K. Subban, and Keith Yandle all hanging up their skates. Chara leaves as the all-time games played leader among defencemen, a cup winner in 2011, and a virtual lock for the Hall [...]
