I hope those of you with Quinn Hughes, Andrei Svechnikov, Cale Makar, and the rest of the tasty 2021 RFA crop were able to take advantages of those bargain contracts and win some championships. Hughes, Conor Garland, and the rest of my group carried me as far as the semis in my one cap league, [...]
I have to hand it to the NHL for their arrangement of timeslots. They have finally figured out that they need to space out start times and not put all four games of the day into the usual 7pm EST slot. * The goalie timeshares are spilling over into the playoffs, and it may have [...]
David Quinn was hired in the Sping of 2018 by the New York Rangers to usher in a new era, with their rebuild letter getting published only a few months prior. He was brought in to bring stability through a rebuild. He had some experience in that aspect after spending a shortened season as an [...]
Heads up for those of you with fantasy leagues still going, today’s game between the Canucks and the Jets starts at 5pm EST. Wouldn’t want to miss one of the last chances you have to set your lineups for the season. * Along the same lines, the league is bumping up the start times for [...]
Back-to-back Ramblings for me, and no back-up goalie in sight. Unfortunately, Mr. Clifford was unable to cover his usual day as he was working out too much and is currently listed as day-to-day with a hand injury. Hopefully he’ll be back on the ice soon! * The big news that you want to hear [...]
I’m fairly certain that the NHL scheduler saw that I was managing the Ramblings that would include Tuesday night’s games, heard my request about not having super late games on Tuesdays (thanks!) but said “in that case, let’s just put all of the rest of them at 7pm". It’s a bit of a running joke [...]
It’s a long one today. Lots of thoughts on last night’s games, and then just for fun I go through in an entire mock expansion draft(!) to check for possible/probably fantasy ramifications. Seattle in, grab your coffee, tea, or drink of choice, and let’s get Kraken. * At this point in the season, you’re trying [...]
I hope you enjoyed all of our trade deadline coverage and fantasy recaps. Dobber, Mike, and Ian all did an excellent job with their recaps, and there isn’t a lot more that I want to add. Instead, I get to build on it and cover a bunch of the new-team debuts, and there were some good [...]
The Toronto Maple Leafs made another depth move and swapped forwards with the San Jose Sharks. Alexander Barabanov was a 2020 offseason signee with Toronto, and the 26-year-old winger moves on to San Jose while Toronto deepens their centre position by adding 27-year-old AHLer Antti Suomela. Both are UFAs at the end of the season, so there [...]
The Tampa Bay Lightning made their big swing on Saturday, acquiring David Savard from the Columbus Blue Jackets, through the Detroit Red Wings (for salary retention purposes). Here’s the full trade: https://twitter.com/CapFriendly/status/1380996850107482116 Savard has played his whole 10-year career with the Blue Jackets, and for the last number of years has been a reliable presence on [...]
