As the majority of series ended, the playoffs appeared to going perfectly to form as far as the favorites winning (Carolina, Toronto, Dallas, Vegas, Edmonton). Then Sunday hit with the two major Game 7 upsets of Florida over Boston and Seattle over Colorado. A minor upset of the Devils over the Rangers on Monday resulted [...]
Maple Leafs 2, Lightning 1 OT (Leafs win series 4-2) “They’ve finally caught Lightning in a bottle!” That was the call from Chris Cuthbert, one that he had no doubt saved for the occasion of the Toronto Maple Leafs finally lifting their playoff curse. It was bound to happen sooner or later with this group [...]
Hurricanes 2, Islanders 1 OT (Hurricanes win series 4-2) Paul Stastny scored the series-clinching overtime winner at exactly 6:00 of overtime to send the Canes to the second round. The goal was the 37-year-old Stastny’s third career playoff overtime winner, also giving him goals in back-to-back games. https://twitter.com/Sportsnet/status/1652132291055943680 Anytime I can post a stat like [...]
It was the day of overtime with three games finishing beyond regulation on Saturday. We are also guaranteed no first-round sweeps, as every series now sits at 2-1. I’ll run through these games and try to pick out a few fantasy-relevant bits along with some other trivia. Golden Knights 5, Jets 4 – 2OT (Golden [...]
More playoff pucks, with four games on the schedule for Friday. Islanders 5, Hurricanes 1 (Hurricanes lead series 2-1) The final score is a bit misleading, as Kyle Palmieri broke a 1-1 tie with just under four minutes left in regulation on an Islanders power play. The Isles scored four goals in 2:18 late in [...]
Toronto 7, Tampa Bay 2 (series tied 1-1) Leafs fans can exhale (at least for now), as their beloved Buds replied to their Game 1 disaster by flipping the script on the Bolts with a 7-2 win in Game 2. A Mitch Marner power-play goal in the first minute helped calm the nerves of Leafs [...]

As is the case every season, the panel is weighing in with predictions for each of the eight playoff series, the Stanley Cup finalists and winner, and Conn Smythe Trophy winner. The panel will also return for more predictions at the start of every [...]
To little surprise, the Columbus Blue Jackets have decided to part ways with coach Brad Larsen. Even though Larsen didn’t seem likely to last the offseason, I’m not sure anyone could have coached that team to a playoff spot, given the sheer volume of injuries they faced this season. As I mentioned yesterday, the Blue [...]
The 2022-23 regular season has just finished at the time that these rankings are published. If you’re already looking ahead to next season, these rankings could be considered very preliminary rankings for the 2023-24 season and will be adjusted throughout the offseason based on player transactions and further research on player values. Keep in mind [...]
The NHL’s regular season came to a close on Friday with two games that had been postponed earlier in the season. These two games provided the few fantasy teams still competing for something with one last opportunity to pull out a win. If you fall into this category, you were probably breaking these games down [...]
