Happy Easter everyone! For the first time in history, 16 NHL games were played on a single day. That meant with all 32 teams playing, you had zero empty slots (aside from injuries or healthy scratches) on Saturday, forcing you to start your best lineup and make some tough start/sit decisions. Hopefully it all worked [...]
With no games on Friday, the focus of today’s Ramblings will be on Thursday’s later games, so expect the bulk of the coverage to be on Western Conference teams. For Thursday’s earlier games, see yesterday’s Ramblings. - In just their second NHL season, the Seattle Kraken will be one of 16 teams competing for the [...]
With Thursday featuring 14 games in total and Friday showing none, I’ll split coverage of Thursday’s games over both today’s and tomorrow’s Ramblings. The focus of today’s Ramblings will be on the early games (those with 7 pm ET/4 pm PT starts), so consider today’s article to be mainly about Eastern Conference teams, if you [...]
If you are lucky enough to be playing in a fantasy hockey championship battle next week, you should keep in mind that Nashville is one of five teams to play four games. Two Predators players stood out in Saturday’s matinee game, a 6-1 win for Nashville over St. Louis. Both of these players might be [...]
On April Fool’s Day, I promise you facts and even a few opinions and hopefully no tricks. Devon Levi’s debut with the Sabres was a success. In his first NHL game, Levi stopped 31 of 33 shots in picking up a 3-2 overtime win over the Rangers. As I’ve mentioned earlier, the Sabres have a [...]
Thursday was opening day for major league baseball (nice win for the Blue Jays!), so I won’t blame you if you took your eye off the puck for a moment or all day. On the other hand, if you're like me, you haven't paid as much attention to the start of the fantasy baseball season [...]
A Carter Hart shutout during the fantasy playoffs? That’s right. Hart stopped 29 shots in a 3-0 blanking of the Red Wings in one of many early games on Saturday. John Tortorella definitely doesn’t believe in tanking, and that has shown in the Flyers’ recent play. Hart has now won his last four starts, while [...]
Patrik Laine is expected to miss the next two to four weeks with a tricep strain from Thursday’s practice. Unfortunate timing, as Laine had posted multiple points in each of his last three games and four of his past five games. Try to move Laine to an injured slot or the bench if you can, [...]
Darcy Kuemper suffered an upper-body injury in practice on Saturday, which means that Charlie Lindgren could start today (Sunday) against Minnesota and possibly beyond that. Lindgren deserves at least a short-term pickup not only because of Kuemper’s injury but also because of some juicy home matchups coming up against Columbus and Chicago… although sharp turn, [...]
With an assist on Friday, Pavel Buchnevich has extended his point streak to 11 games. Over that span, he has recorded 19 points (7 G, 12 A), including a hat trick in his previous game on Wednesday. Because he’s experienced multiple injury stoppages this season and also the Blues’ struggles, Buchnevich perhaps isn’t receiving the [...]
