With NHL rosters due Tuesday afternoon, we got a good taste of what lineups are going to look like when teams hit the ice for the start of the regular season this week. I thought it would be worth going through a few of them and what that means for fantasy owners. Top 4 prax [...]
We finally have an answer to the question of where Jaromir Jagr will sign, as he is destined to head to the Saddledome and suit up for the Calgary Flames. There were apparently other teams involved in his decision-making – with St. Louis having been rebuffed – but he settled on Calgary in what appears [...]
The regular season is almost here! Rejoice, fantasy hockey fans, the long (though not really?) off-season is almost at an end, with games that actually matter beginning in two days. Individual team rosters must be finalized by Tuesday afternoon, though most lineups are pretty much known at this point. **** For those missing out [...]
A couple Ramblings ago, I asked the Dobber community to provide me with some players they had seen, in their eyes, over-drafted in drafts they had done. These reaches can sometimes work out – congrats to everyone that grabbed Artemi Panarin a few rounds early in their 2015-16 drafts – and sometimes it’s just a [...]
A couple weeks ago in these Ramblings, I wrote about players, sans name bars, that had performed similarly over the last couple years but had drastically different average draft positions. It seemed to be popular among the readers – for better or worse – so I thought it’d be worth doing again. Remember that this [...]
I have been asked a handful of times to discuss draft strategies, so with the draft season having about a week or so left, I figure it’s probably now or never. These are just some general ideas I employ. Remember that nothing in fantasy sports is a hard-and-fast rule, everything is flexible. **** Over [...]
Time to get out the blowtorch. With just over a week until the beginning of the 2017-18 campaign, the fantasy hockey draft season is starting to wind down as well. Hopefully between the Ramblings, the articles, and the draft guide, all the Dobber heads out there should be fully prepared for whatever drafts remain. I [...]
There are only two weekends left before the beginning of the regular season, which means it’s crunch time for fantasy owners. For those that haven’t done their drafts yet, there is still a bit of work to be done. Owners may be well-read on rankings and positional battles, but differences between the two major drafting [...]
Information changes constantly through NHL training camps and exhibition games. What is true for line combinations one day may not be true to the next, be it for injury, looking for chemistry, or a litany of other reasons. All the same, it’s important for fantasy owners to stay current to keep in mind what changes [...]
In these Ramblings a couple of days ago, I discussed the aggregate rankings over at FantasyPros, focusing on players that I was higher on than the Expert Consensus Rankings (ECR). For those that missed it, just take a spin over there. On the flipside, not all is rosy, and there are certainly players I’m lower [...]
