‘The Reporters’ shouldn’t join a fantasy league any time soon.

It’s no secret that more often than not, when a player with any semblance of offensive ability gets traded he makes a quick impact on the scoresheet. Usually, this impact fizzles out within a matter of a few games, although in many cases the numbers that he continues to produce is still an improvement on what he was doing in his former city.

Olympic hockey sure was fun to watch, but I am craving some competition. If I can pick NHL winners correct about 70% of the time, how hard is it to pick Canada to beat Germany or Norway? I will be picking my winners for Saturday’s games until the season is over now, as my partner in crime Marty Kwiaton is touring the world looking for the next Alexander Daigle.

These picks are sure to win you money. If you want to be positive you collect cash, just pick the teams I have winning and take out the extra goal in some of my plus picks this week. My winners are solid, but sometimes I gamble on the extra goal to increase my odds at bigger paydays.

A change of scenery can often be the catalyst for improved production among NHL players. There were several young forwards that changed addresses at the deadline this season, and a few of them in particular stand to benefit. Players coming up through the ranks with certain teams often get caught up in a numbers game, and can find it difficult, if not impossible, to break through to the NHL. As well, young forwards are often put into defensive, checking roles without ever being given the opportunity to play consistent minutes on a scoring line. It is tough to show what you can do with less than 10 minutes of ice time per night, and the following players can probably attest to that.

A tough decision can be made easier with these charts showing you the best five and worst five schedules for upcoming seven-day periods. Some of you used them last year but for the benefit of new readers here is a refresher. The number next to the team indicates the 'multiplier' to use on a player's point-per-game pace to give you an idea how many points to expect for that week.

Post Olympic Postulations, Part 3 of 3

Welcome to the final of three parts looking at Eastern Conference teams games remaining and subsequent fantasy breakdown.

At the Olympic break, all NHL teams had between 19 and 22 games remaining in the regular season. But not all games are created equal. In the Eastern Conference, one team (Atlanta) had 14 home games remaining, while another had only seven (Ottawa). One team had ten games remaining against teams that have 75 points or more, while another had only four left against the top teams.
