NHL Picks/Props

In the weekly piece “Saturday’s NHL Picks,” Flip Livingstone breaks down at least three of Saturday’s NHL games where he will either pick a winner or make an over/under bet on total goals.

Anthony checks in with his picks for NHL action on Saturday, February 23rd.

Kudos to our boy Marty last week for A) Doing me a solid, throwing down last week’s picks in my absence while I jetted off to the Windy City to take in the Blackhawks and the visiting Stanley Cup Hangover Boys defending champs & B) Doing so with authority!

He not only nailed all but two of his picks, but also went the extra mile, boldly (and correctly) pegging the Ducks to take the Preds in SOs as well as a blowout for the boys in blue in the Battle of Ontario. Now that I’ve pumped his tires with gratitude, time to dive into this Saturday’s six pack!

Marty sets the table for Saturday's NHL action.

I got called in to give Anthony a hand as he’s off to see the Hawks and Kings do battle in Chicago. Our four-legged comrade came crashing back to earth last week only selecting a single winner, while yours truly had some decent picks with the Ducks, Devils, and Capitals all picking up important wins. Lots of good action on TV this weekend so let’s crack a cold one and jump right in!

Good afternoon poolies! As divisional and conference races only begin to increasingly intensify in the coming days and weeks, we can be sure for yet another fun filled slate this Saturday evening. There are several close-to-call matchups, but I’ll do my best to guide you through them. The last few weeks I’ve been splitting my picks. So-so I suppose, but if my ‘slump’ is running off at a .500 clip, then I suppose it’s not the worst vibe to be on for a turnaround week, where I aim to hit at a high percentage once more.

Ladies and gentlemen, let’s get to the six pack.

Saturday’s NHL Picks – March 10th

Lots of great playoff races in both the Eastern and Western conference this weekend.  The West looks to be the tougher conference as even 11th place Calgary would be tied for the 8th and final playoff spot in the East right now. Plenty of games that playoff ramifications sell let’s get right to the action.

Saturday’s NHL Picks – March 3rd

It’s the first weekend of March. Do you feel it?! The last full month of the regular season is now underway. Divisional and conference races are tightening. The playoff picture is slowly, yet increasingly become clearer. Some franchises are surging, some collapsing. Scoring races are beginning to crystallize as the 3 headed monster of Malkin, Stamkos & Giroux have set themselves apart from the crop. The triumph in cementing a spot in the top 16, the disappointment Leaf Nation of missing the playoffs each and every single post lockout season. I can hardly wait to see how these last six weeks unfold.

Without further ado, this weekend’s Six-Pack!

Saturday’s NHL Picks – February 18

Short schedule from which to select my card this week, but nonetheless there are certainly some beauts that are ripe for the picking! Last week, I presented you my picks just after a brisk skate down the Rideau Canal, during my road trip to Ottawa from Toronto to see the Sens/Leafs contest lopsided pounding. Toronto thoroughly obliterated their provincial rivals in each and every facet of the game except SOG. However on that note, Optimus Reim was so in the zone that even a 49 shot barrage was converted into a goose egg, as the Leafs took it to the very team they are closest to chasing by a 5-0 score.

Another good week last week, a 4-2 finish (I know Winnipeg won in OT and not the shootout so technically 3-3 for pro-line purposes) puts me at 9-3 over the past couple of weekends. Thunder is starting to slide as she only picked out two winners last week; the old girl needs a bounce back and fast. She’s got a couple of risky picks this week, but then again, all winning/losing streaks come to an end at some point.

It’s -400C here with the wind chill, so I’m looking forward to some nice hot cocoa with Bailey’s to keep me warm this Saturday while watching some NHL action. I would like to apologize ahead of time as I’ve been slightly distracted with my Niners playing in the NFC Championship Game this Sunday after that amazing game last weekend against the Saints, so if I slide a little, gimme a break, San Fran hasn’t been in the postseason since 2002. Fourteen games on the schedule, so let’s get to the easy money:
