Daily Fantasy (DFS) Advice

First, congratulations to the Colorado Avalanche for advancing to the Stanley Cup Finals.    It was just a year ago that we heard Nathan MacKinnon voice his frustration about having won nothing in his NHL career, and now he’s led his team to the precipice of the ultimate team prize.    Prognosticators come and go, but strategy [...]

If you read Thursday’s article, you’re already aware of the two different ways to play DFS for Saturday on DraftKings. If you didn’t, here’s a quick rundown. First off, there is a two-game slate posted with the “classic” format that we’re used to from the entire season with the normal nine-player lineup. The two games [...]

In a surprise move, one that I don’t recall DraftKings doing in previous years, DraftKings has actually been able to continue offering two game slates with the classic format. To pull this off they use for example the Colorado vs Edmonton game on Thursday as the first game on the slate, and then the Tampa [...]

As I write this (Monday evening), the playoff picture is being whittled down to 4 teams. The Western Conference final is set, now apparently called the McSeries or the McMatchup. Only one game per night makes the daily fantasy bettor choose a very limited lineup - on DraftKings this means a “Showdown” setting where one [...]

Sad times for NHL DFS as in all likelihood the days of multiple games on a single slate are over. I’d expect the two Conference Final series to alternate days, giving us one game per night. With that said, if you still want your fantasy fix there is a game available on most of the [...]

We are looking at what could be the last two-game slate of the season on tap for Thursday. We know the Carolina-New York series will make it to the weekend, but an Edmonton win tonight will put a dagger to the multi-game DFS slates. If Calgary were to win and extend the series, I’d expect [...]

Back to a two-game slate tonight, which is still enough to risk another wager on individual outcomes. For Sunday’s column, I was right that the Rangers and Mike Smith would shine, but my Florida Panthers’ stack sunk my DraftKings bet before either of the other two games even started. I guess I’m grateful to bet [...]

I was asked to write a special Sunday DFS column, as it will certainly be the last day of this season with three games, and your loving Dobber editors didn’t want daily bettors to wander around aimlessly. LOL. OK, to be totally fair, this is my sixth article, and my having bet on my own [...]

Just a two-game slate for Thursday, which will be the norm for the most part this round. We got a glimpse of these teams on Tuesday so we can reference that in helping build our lineups for tonight. If you want to give the Dobber Hockey DFS tools a shot, you can here: "Try Our [...]

Are you all excited? Are you? Because I certainly am. The second round of these playoffs has been underway since yesterday and already it’s making me doubt everything I thought I knew about this sport and this league, and I love it.  The Florida Panthers, who’ve been standing atop many fans’ brackets since the postseason [...]
