By Ian Gooding|2022-12-24T14:40:55-05:00December 25th, 2022|Hockey Rambling|

Merry Christmas! Whether you celebrate or not, hope you have a great day. Alex Ovechkin needs only 93 more goals to catch Wayne Gretzky for the all-time lead. Ovechkin has 22 goals in 36 games, so let’s assume he scores 20 more goals this season for another 40+ goal season. That would leave him with [...]

In other words, if you're looking for more of a game recap-style Ramblings, I'll have that tomorrow. That being said, I'll offer a quick [...]

Ramblings: Stützle Returns; Update on Barkov; Calendar-Year Production from Skjei, Faulk, Forsling, Bouchard, Ullmark, Husso, and More – December 23

By Michael Clifford|2022-12-22T21:51:43-05:00December 23rd, 2022|Hockey Rambling|

When Tim Stützle went hard into the boards last week, both Ottawa fans and fantasy owners were sent into a panic about what had the appearance of a possible long-term injury. Those same fans and fantasy owners got some extremely good news on Thursday, though: https://twitter.com/SunGarrioch/status/1605948945615781890 He was back in his usual spot on the [...]

Ramblings: Updates on Wilson and Backstrom; Calendar-Year Scoring for Tkachuk, Kaprizov, Kyrou, Colton, and More – December 22

By Michael Clifford|2022-12-21T12:31:41-05:00December 22nd, 2022|Hockey Rambling|

If there’s one area of the Ottawa lineup that probably needs some stability, it’s on the blue line (once they get their centers healthy). The team is trying to give the roster some stability on the back end by re-signing Artem Zub to a four-year extension: https://twitter.com/SunGarrioch/status/1605577872478900225 He is not a big producer with 40 [...]

By Alexander MacLean|2022-12-20T23:50:31-05:00December 21st, 2022|Hockey Rambling|

As of today I am off work until the New Year. It’s a great feeling, and it’s made even better by the fact there are eight games to cover tonight (not staggered at all on the start times unfortunately) and the World Juniors are almost here as well. Only a few days until they’re back [...]

Ramblings: Updates on Atkinson, Jenner, Zucker, and Sergachev; Malgin Traded; Bjugstad, Vilardi, Mikheyev, Kubalik, and More – December 20

The Columbus Blue Jackets saw a slew of defensemen injured roughly a month ago. All of Zach Werenski, Adam Boqvist, Nick Blankenburg, and Jake Bean have missed weeks for the Jackets. The injury problems just keep mounting, though, as Boone Jenner will be out for four weeks due to thumb surgery: https://twitter.com/Aportzline/status/1604866210306433029 After a slow [...]

By Ian Gooding|2022-12-18T02:10:25-05:00December 18th, 2022|Hockey Rambling|

The Alex Ovechkin goal watch to match and pass Gordie Howe will wait at least one more game. Ovechkin did not record even a point, let alone a goal. He was held to two shots as well, although he had a decent night in bangers formats with six hits. His next chance will be Monday [...]

Ramblings: Zuccarello, Kyrou, Keller Score Multiple Goals; Kane, Jones, Huberdeau Struggling (Dec 17)

By Ian Gooding|2022-12-17T10:38:49-05:00December 17th, 2022|Hockey Rambling|

With a hat trick and an assist on Friday, Mats Zuccarello has extended his point streak to nine games. Over that span he has 13 points (5 G, 8 A). I’ll admit that I didn’t think it was going to work for Zuccarello and the Wild when they signed him to a five-year contract in [...]
