Like last season, I will grade each team in the West to see how additions to the rosters have fared to date. Rookies are not included. Anaheim Ducks The Ducks brought in Robert Hagg, Alex Killorn, Radko Gudas and Alex Stalock in free agency. Between Killorn and Gudas, Anaheim added $10.25 million to their books [...]
One of the easiest ways to decide which players to pick up from the waiver in one-year leagues is to follow the mob mentality. When you're sorting free agents, you might sort by percentage of leagues that players are rostered in. Oftentimes, it can be tempting to just select the top players. After all, if [...]
Before we get into Sunday’s games and streaming options for the week ahead, let’s run through some noteworthy injury updates from around the league. https://twitter.com/MitchellClinton/status/1749122854262636941 Winnipeg’s top center won’t be available against the Bruins on Monday. Considering he just started skating by himself, I wouldn’t expect him to play against Toronto on Wednesday either. Adam [...]
Hello and welcome back to Geek of the Week! In this week’s article, I am going to analyze a stat that I usually don’t love to include in my multicategory leagues, but it’s still widely used: plus-minus. In general, players can be hurt in this category based on their teammates’ poor play, but this stat [...]

The Islanders made a splash on Saturday, firing Lane Lambert and hiring Patrick Roy to be their new head coach. I took care of the Fantasy Take here. We will get to see Coach Roy in action very quickly, as the Isles have a match with the Stars today (Sunday) at 7:30 pm ET. - [...]
The New York Islanders have hired Patrick Roy to be their new head coach, replacing Lane Lambert. The Islanders’ 4-3 overtime loss to Chicago on Friday could have sealed Lambert’s fate, as the team had gone 2-6-2 in its last 10 games. Lambert’s team had become more fantasy friendly this season, as players like Bo [...]
Welcome back to The Journey, where we track the development of prospects as they excel in junior, make the NHL, and push towards stardom. *** Today’s article is inspired by Edmonton prospect Xavier Bourgault, whose scoring has completely fallen off a cliff this year as he continues his transition from junior to pro hockey in [...]
All-star observations Since being named to the 2024 NHL All-star “event” in Toronto, how are some of the guys doing? Alexandar Georgiev, 0-2, 4 goals surrendered in each start, save percentage of .875. Not that his save percentage was stellar before his selection - under .900 for the season, Georgiev leads the league in wins [...]
As expected, the Senators have signed Shane Pinto to a one-year, $775,000 contract. Pinto is expected to return from his half-season suspension on Sunday, so it will be interesting to see how the Senators draw their lines up the middle with Josh Norris projected to return at around that time as well. In the Midseason [...]
