Patrick O'Sullivan has been placed on waivers. My money is on him clearing and heading to the AHL.   DobberBaseball's Fantasy Prospects Report will be released later this evening. You can order that here.   Some funny comments below. To answer some of them - Michael Del Zotto has just three points in his [...]

They’re Coming in Waves

Upon the horizon and around the corner, under the surface and out of thin air, they’re coming in waves and I don’t know from where. A backup here, an emergency recall there, you just simply can’t prepare for when a fantasy sleeper will appear. The key is to remember that anything is possible when the stars are aligned and a goalie quickly gets comfortable.

TSN reports that Guillaume Latendresse will undergo hip surgery to repair a torn labrum, as well as surgery to repair a sports hernia. He is out until probably March. It looks like early on O'Sullivan will try his hand at Latendresse's spot.   Kyle Turris has been placed on IR with a UBI and [...]

Jeff Tambellini has been recalled. Peter Schaeffer has been sent to Manitoba, but I hear that he will not report there. Hmmmm...   Henrik Karlsson will get the start for Calgary tonight.   Matt Stajan will not play tonight. Like I said, he was knocked into next week. The Flames seem to think he'll [...]

Fantasy Indicators of Success: Centres of Attention

This is the final installment of the Fantasy Indicators of Success series. This week we take a look at the all important Centre position.

Nearly identical to the Wingers, Centres require top six ice time and first unit power play minutes to separate the men from the boys. Some Centres are shoot first, ask questions later types, like Stamkos, Malkin, Jeff Carter, Eric Staal and the new Crosby. Others are the pass first types like Henrik Sedin, the old Crosby and Backstrom. Obviously the shots on goal statistic will not be all that relevant for those pivots that prefer passing to shooting.

Saturday's ramblings will be posted at 11AM EST. Sorry for the delay!   Nikita Filatov's days in Columbus are numbered, in my opinion. He isn't fitting in, and the Blue Jackets could use him as trade bait for a legitimate top four/five defenseman as the trade deadline approaches.   Is it time to cut [...]

A tough decision can be made easier with these charts showing you the best five and worst five schedules for upcoming seven-day periods. Some of you used them last year but for the benefit of new readers here is a refresher. The number next to the team indicates the 'multiplier' to use on a player's point-per-game pace to give you an idea how many points to expect for that week.

Good Bloodlines

One of the things you’ll sometimes hear scouts say is that a player has “good bloodlines.”

It means that a prospect is the son of a former NHLer or pro hockey player and the phrase implies that hockey talent is hereditary and passed on genetically.
