Dobber: I am completely re-writing the first three segments of my six-part Deadline Day series. So much has gone done that I've changed everything. Even Chris Drury's injury changes the Rangers from "being unable to afford Brad Richards" to no being able to squeeze him in. I've also dug deeper into Cap Geek to [...]
Brian Burke has his detractors, no doubt. But when you consider Tomáš Kaberle had the Toronto Maple Leafs’ over the proverbial barrel, a hotshot prospect like Joe Colborne and a first round draft pick is a pretty decent return. Especially, if Colborne, and his six-foot-five frame, dominates at the NHL level in a few seasons, the way many believe he can.
Fantasy Impact: Colorado traded rugged winger Chris Stewart, prized young defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk, and a 2nd round draft pick to St. Louis in exchange for former 1st overall pick Erik Johnson, shutdown center Jay McClement, and a conditional 1st round pick. One of the most surprising (and interesting) trades in recent memory.
In Part 4 of this six-part series, we’ll take a team-by-team look at the Northwest Division. Buyers? Sellers? Who’s available? How can you prepare your fantasy roster for the upcoming address changes for some of these guys? Everything you need to know as a fantasy hockey owner about the 2011 NHL Trade Deadline is right here. Hell, I’ve already nailed a few of the speculated players moving. All you need is a bit of research and I save you the trouble.
Ramblings are late this morning - Happy Family Day to 25% of my readers! Enjoy yesterday's ramblings while I finish putting today's together... Here it is - as I hinted a few days ago - the team finally says the "c" word about Brad Richards. Marco Scandella has returned to practice for [...]
Souray has cleared re-entry waivers. The Flames have placed Niklas Hagman on waivers. Martin Brodeur is ready to start - he may start tomorrow night, but then again are the Devils in a rush when Hedberg keeps getting the W's? Andrei Loktionov has been sent back to Manchester by the Kings, [...]
One week from today, the trade deadline will tear through the National Hockey League like a Texas tornado. The funnel cloud is forming as we speak, as a few goaltenders have already been uprooted and dropped in a new city. Whether these changes improve or ruin a goalie’s fantasy value depends on many different factors, but one thing I know for sure is that traded goalies will be re-energized as they start the next chapter of their pro careers.
Fantasy Impact: Dallas has traded James Neal and Matt Niskanen to the Pittsburgh Penguins for Alex Goligoski.
Quick notes - Hagman has cleared waivers, the Pens have sent down Ryan Craig, and the Coyotes have called Kyle Turris back up. Obviously Turris was sent down just to get in some game time. Nicklas Backstrom may (or may not) miss time due to a fractured finger. Details are here. But this [...]
