Kovalchuk Turnaround Has Finally Arrived

Ilya Kovalchuk has six points in his last 11 games in what his fantasy owners would easily deem “a disappointing season”. He has six points and is a minus-10 in his last 11 games, but things are finally looking a little brighter for the 23-year-old. Enough of the Steve Rucchin experiment! End the Niko Kapanen trials! Stop the Glen Metropolit insanity!

NHL Deals: Atlanta Lands Tkachuk, Zhitnik

UPDATED: In two separate deals, the Thrashers have picked up Keith Tkachuk from St. Louis (pending his waiving his no-trade clause) for a first-round pick, a third round pick (both in 2007), a second round pick for 2008, and Glen Metropolit.   The Thrashers also picked up Alexei Zhitnik from Philadelphia in exchange for Braydon Coburn.

Whatever it is you call it, the past three years have had a consensus No. 1 pick emerge by midway through the season. The 2007 NHL Entry Draft appears to be well on the way to breaking that streak.
