Anaheim will be affiliated with a new AHL team in Des Moines next season. The Iowa Stars, who ended their agreement with Dallas, will move to Des Moines. No word on what Portland, Anaheim former affiliate, will do.
The Lightning have fired coach John Tortorella. Frankly, I would prefer he coach the Leafs over Ron Wilson. Is it too late to change their mind?
Sykora's overtime winner was his first point of the series, set up by Malkin (his first point of the series) and Gonchar, who had left the game in the third period and was in the dressing room for over two periods after that before getting an assist on his first shift back.
As mentioned yesterday, Sami Kapanen signed to play in Finland next season. It was to play for a team that he co-owns.
Jason King has signed to play in Germany next season.
Alexandre Picard signed a multi-year, one-way deal with the Lightning. The young rearguard is a dark horse to pot 45 points next season. The team also signed Kevin Quick to a two-way contract.
Donald MacLean signed to play next season in the SEL
The Rangers signed Tomas Zaborsky to an entry-level contract. Zaborsky was ranked 285 on my Fantasy Prospects List and moves up with the news. He is a good three years away.
The Isles signed Tim Jackman to a one-year extension. He is a fringe player who brings PIMs to the fantasy table.
It is looking as if the Leafs will sign Ron Wilson as their next coach. That would probably kill their offense…although he has had the occasional season where the offense really purred, so don't assume… just prepare for a lot of line juggling.
Ottawa prospect Peter Regin has signed an entry level contract. He was ranked 195 on my fantasy prospects list, but moves up a little with this news. He should play in the AHL next season.
