Angus here… more stuff from Ottawa.
RDS is reporting that Tampa Bay and Vincent Lecavalier will agree on an extension at some point in July, keeping him in Tampa for the remainder of his career. Expect something huge.
Canucks GM Mike Gillis is not shopping the Sedin twins around and is going to look to re-sign them to long-term deals come July 1st. He said that there have been numerous teams express interest in them.
Keep an eye on Jason Spezza, he may be on his way out in Ottawa. Where there is smoke, there is often fire, and his name has been everywhere today.
The Hurricanes have traded for the rights to Darcy Hordichuk, and have re-signed RFA Tim Gleason to a four year deal worth $11.5 million.
Our prospects expert Matt Bugg will be on Hockeycentral at noon with Doug Farraway on the FAN590 Toronto and Sportsnet Ontario. He's scheduled for around 12:20 and will be, of course, discussing the draft. You can see his work, along with mine, in the Fantasy Prospect Report. If you haven't done so already – buy it now and get the lowdown on all of the prospects (drafted and undrafted) from a fantasy standpoint. For just $14.95 you get that report, PLUS Dobber's legendary Fantasy Guide that comes out August 1.
Still on the topic of Bugg and the draft – he will be doing a LIVE Blog on DobberHockey right on the home page, reflecting on the draft picks and giving you his take.
Our friends over at KUKLAS KORNER have people in Ottawa also Blogging live at the event. You can take a look at what they say by clicking HERE.
DobberHockey – BANNED in some offices. Find out more information, and discuss the matter HERE .
As Angus reported yesterday afternoon in the ramblings, the Columbus Dispatch is now on board with the Zherdev for Marleau rumor, saying it could be close to done. The Sharks would prefer the No.6 overall pick, the Jackets would prefer to move Zherdev. Allegedly.
The Washington Post is reporting that a deal with Huet is still being negotiated. I think he'll be signed before July 1.
There is a rumor that the Kings will deal down in the draft (they pick second overall) and they also have Mike Cammalleri on the block. The Hockey News has the Kings trading down to fifth and then selecting Nikita Filatov. Matt Bugg also originally had the Kings taking Filatov in our Prospects Report. However, the Kings have already expressed an interest in a defenseman, their need is clearly on defense, and Drew Doughty is a huge Kings fan. They're picking Doughty – mark it!
The NHL approved some rule changes yesterday. Click "Next" below to see my thoughts on them and remember – we update ramblings throughout the day so you should always click "next" to see what you missed from the day before – I rarely repeat myself!
