FILLED: After a random draw of 13 people who purchased the Fantasy Hockey Guide by Sept. 1, and a further random draw of seven more as a backup, I received 10 agreements, 2 "no" and 8 "no replies". I have THREE spots open but for now will fill TWO of them. The first two people to start a thread in the "Prospect " section of the Forum with their favorite offensive prospect drafted in the 2nd round of the 2008 Entry Draft in the subject line, I will add. Tie goes to the person with more posts. FILLED and CLOSED

Brent Burns underwent surgery on his elbow and the recovery time is expected to be about four weeks. That wipes out his training camp, which often leads to groin or hamstring problems early on.

The Kings have signed Jarret Stoll to a four-year, $14.4 million contract extension. While he certainly hasn't earned that money I think he'll have a decent comeback season. If not, how many terrible players will point to his contract when negotiating next summer?

A pair of 18-year-old defensemen signed contracts yesterday – Zach Bogosian of the Thrashers and Alex Pietrangelo of the Blues. The latter should make the team and the former almost definitely will.

The Sens have signed Brad Isbister to a one-year, two-way contract. Good depth move, expect him to play three-quarters of the season in Binghamton.

I have an update ready for the Fantasy Guide, but have been having problems with getting it converted to Adobe. I made the mistake of trying to convert the English and French versions at the same time – I guess Adobe is not a big enough company to swing such a big job. Anyway, as soon as the problem is fixed (it's been 24 hours so far), I will have the update up so check your Downloads.

Regarding the three-tier DobberHockey pool – I may have a couple of openings for the Entry Division – stay tuned, I may make an announcement that will allow you to join if you are the fastest to react. Maybe.

Elizabeth and Lewis reunite to bring you all the latest fantasy news and strategy, such as how our siblings would fare if called on to fill our roles like Owen Sillinger did for bro Cole. Then it’s onto news including coverage of the postponed CGY/LAK game and defensive injuries piling up in MIN and putting some strain on Gustavsson’s performance. Injuries and outjuries include a pair of goalies returning to their teams in Ingram and Shesterkin, as well as how Monahan’s wrist injury opens the door for big minutes for Fantilli. Finally, the pair touch on Voronkov and PLD’s hot streaks, and discuss John Carlson’s rollercoaster in light of Chychrun’s production.

Keeping Karlsson: Tuch Hunch

On this edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast mega-show, Elan and Brian tour every team, ranking a slate of the least bad goalies, noticing the wind in some Red Wings’ and Stars’ sails, dangling snoozer status above a pair of commonly rostered power-play quarterbacks, and rushing or strolling, accordingly, to some skaters on the up and up.
