A Roto-Look Ahead – Week 13

Oilers

As my first round defeat in my NFL pool recently taught me it is never too early to think about the playoffs.  In a head to head format chances are come the last month of the NHL season are playoff time and your weekly roster decisions will mean a lot more.  So why not put yourself in the best possible position by acquiring players who are on teams with better final schedules.

Finally, Paul Kariya will practice with the Blues Friday. TJ Oshie will also practice on that day. Expect Oshie back in a week, and Kariya in about 10-14 days (my opinion). Tough game for Cory Schneider - he allowed five goals on 15 shots last night. Sanford gave up zero in 16. This speaks volumes to [...]

The Anatomy of Change

Change is always constant in our everyday world. We change the way we talk, we change the way we walk, and we even change our daily rosters in our fantasy hockey squads. Some change is good, some is bad. For the next few weeks we’ll discuss what changes may occur in the Western Conference at the trade deadline. We’ll take a look at which teams are due for changes and which will be forced to make some. Buckle up and get ready for the ride.

Peter Mueller missed last night's contest with a sore leg and is doubtful for tonight's contest. Scottie Upshall has a sprained knee and will be sidelined for a couple of weeks. The team will probably recall Andreas Nodl, although given Claude Giroux's hot play he may get a look. Pekka Rinne is expected to start today. He [...]

Another day, another debate. Which goalie should to start and why? This is the main question that plagues you, and for good reason, for there are so few guarantees when it comes to who will get the call on any given night. Even a number of NHL coaches are making questionable decisions in net, ultimately affecting every single fantasy team in some way or another. Therefore, it’s time for a lesson in how decisions can negatively and positively affect a team.

Tyler Bozak, a 22-year-old who was never drafted, tore the meniscus in his knee and will be out until March according to TSN. All 30 NHL teams were reportedly going after this guy, who has 21 points in 18 games for the University of Denver. This injury will keep him out of the headlines, thus [...]

Ils Volent Haut, Ces Flyers…

When Jeff Carter was drafted 11th overall in 2003, I figured that Philadelphia nabbed a potential 40-goal and 90-point man. When Scott Hartnell was selected sixth overall in 200, I felt that Nashville had a potential 30-goal, 70-point leader who brings energy to the game. When Joffrey Lupul was picked seventh overall in 2002, my initial assessment was that the Ducks acquired a kid with the potential to score 30 and see 80 or 85 points.

All three of them are now Flyers, they play on the same line and they are now playing up to their potential.
