Nashville has sent Ryan Jones and Patric Hornqvist to Milwaukee for at least a week. This way, they can get a ton of ice time over three games. One or both will be recalled in the middle of next week.  I predicted this a couple days ago in the ramblings and I hope some of [...]

The time may have come for the Ottawa Senators to start thinking about their future. Ottawa now has five straight losses and sit at the very bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. Their consecutive run of making the playoffs is in serious jeopardy at eleven years.

With Mike Fisher now on the shelf, this could be an opportunity for Ilya Zubov to land on a scoring line. Or perhaps Vermette will move back to center. I wouldn't bet on either player right now, but something sure needs to give in Ottawa. Fisher is out two weeks with a strained knee. I need [...]

Fantasy Value Menu

Greatest Combo featuring Wayne Gretzky- MSNBC/AP

When trading in fantasy sports you have decisions. Just like at the counter of your favorite fast food joint, one needs to be decisive and accurate with their choices. Do you go for the pricey combo meal players? Crosby, Malkin, AO, Vanek or even Semin? Sure, these guys have the whole package, immense talent and huge production, but are they worth the cost? Some are bonafide classics like the Big "Mac" Joe Thornton, but others may just be for a limited time only like the McRib or Ryane Clowe.  Champions in fantasy sports look to the value menu for their trade steals.

Yes this is cheesy, but it wouldn't be fast food without plenty of it.

Fantasy Indicators of Success Part 2

Last week, we covered how fantasy defensemen could potentially play a big role in fantasy leagues and how they are widely undervalued in many fantasy pools. This week we’ll take a gander at wingers to see who is primed for success and who’s due for a fall. Yes, I mentioned last week that defensemen could make or break a team, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you can completely ignore the wingers though. You just need to recognize that the disparity between quality defensemen and waiver wire defensemen is much more noticeable than the disparity between quality wingers and waiver wire wingers.

Turns out the Pens recalled John Curry after all. I really like this late-bloomer and in a year or two I think you will hear more from him. The decision was made likely because whoever was recalled would be sitting on the bench, whereas WBS needed their hot starter. So Berkhoel stayed.  Jason Arnott went to [...]

When it all comes crashing down, the only thing left to do is build it back up again. Such is the life of many NHL goalies dealing with their play this season and such is the life of dealing with your own fantasy goalie tandems. The combination of streaky, volatile and inconsistent play is still rampant, so regardless of whether it stems mainly from team play, bad coaching or the goaltender himself, it’s not going away anytime soon.

‘Big Joe’ Thornton – Comme une horloge

Joe Thornton n’est pas tout à fait à un point par partie et ses propriétaires dans les pools sont déçus. Ils ne devraient pas l’être, car tout fonctionne selon un plan.

Big Joe est un joueur de top-six (selon le classement des joueurs DobberHockey ) dans les ligues qui n’ont pas de positions requises et qui comptent strictement les points.

Is there controversy in your fantasy league? Let Dobber settle things! Dobber Court is now in session. Joe Thornton is not quite at a point per game and his fantasy owners are deeply disappointed. They shouldn’t be, because everything is proceeding according to plan.

Big Joe is a top-six fantasy player (according to the DobberHockey player rankings ) in leagues that do not have positional requirements and count strictly points.
