Edmonton has acquired Lubomir Visnovsky from LA. Going the other way is Jarret Stoll and Matt Greene. Brian Rolston's rights have been dealt to Tampa Bay. Malone-Stamkos-Rolston. Not too shabby. Adam Foote has re-signed with the Avalanche on a two year deal. He will make $3 million per. John-Michael Liles has re-signed with Colorado. He signed a four-year [...]

TSN: "The Calgary Flames announced Friday that the team has re-signed centres Craig Conroy and Daymond Langkow, left wing Eric Nystrom and goaltender Curtis McElhinney." This is not unexpected, as they were just waiting for the salary cap info.  TSN: "The Dallas Stars announced Friday that the club has signed left wing Loui Eriksson to [...]

As the number of keeper league hockey pools increase each year, fantasy junkies are becoming more active in the off-season as they prepare their teams for the coming year. Rebuild? Retool? Tweak? Whatever your intentions, it helps to get all the information you can about your players. FPL will look at a pair of teams each week and give you the fantasy lowdown. This week we’ll look through our fantasy hockey goggles at the outlooks for Boston and Buffalo.

With the NHL's announcement that the salary cap is $56.7 million and the floor is $40.7 million, look for a lot of announcements shortly - as teams such as the Flames were holding back the official announcement of a contract with Daymond Langkow until the cap was announced.  Martin Straka has not officially signed to play [...]

Angus here, whats up gang. Scott Niedermayer will be confirming his return, possibly as early as tomorrow. The source is the Ducks official blog on their site. Will be very interesting to see how they handle RFA-to-be Corey Perry.  The Newsday out of New York is reporting that Jay Bouwmeester is unhappy with the Jokinen [...]

The Flyers acquired Janne Niskala from the Preds for a seventh round pick. Niskala will beef up the Phantoms, but with Eminger already joining the team I don't see him cracking the roster.  The Lightning have waived Marc Denis for the purpose of a buyout.  The Hurricanes have signed Tuomo Ruutu to a one-year deal. I [...]

Corey Perry

2008 may be dubbed as “the summer of the offer sheet” if many of the rumours circulating come to fruition. There are numerous young players who are set to hit the RFA market this summer without a contract. There are also many teams with roster holes and enough cap space to make some bold offers to these players. In this first segment, I’ll break down the current situations for Corey Perry, Mike Green, Steve Bernier, Joe Pavelski, and Pierre-Marc Bouchard.

Ben Clymer, Jeff Hamilton and David Tanabe have all been placed on waivers for the purpose of a buyout. None of them have any fantasy value.  Shea Weber is expected to be extended today by the Preds. The arrival of Boynton and Ballard in Florida makes it unlikely that Cory Murphy will ever get in the [...]
