Niklas Backstrom's hip surgery went better than expected and he will only be shelved for three months instead of the 4-6 talk.  Henrik Lundqvist got the hook after just 14 shots on goal. Four of them got by him. Simeon Varlamov picked up his second shutout - what a great pick for next campaign.  The [...]

Dobber Nation will be uploaded by 4pm - be sure to pick it up for the drive home!  FYI, DobberHockey finally joined Twitter. Look up Dobber or DobberHockey, I'm not sure which one will find it.  A too many men on the ice penalty ended the season for Columbus. Here is what we can take [...]

The Gazette is reporting that Petr Sykora will be replaced in the lineup by Miro Satan. Sykora was reportedly caught off guard by the switch. Looks like Bylsma will go with the hot hand going forward.  The Knights were eliminated from the postseason and John Tavares did not lead them in scoring. Washington d-man John [...]

I know what you’re thinking: “did he fire six shots or only five?”  Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I’ve kinda lost track myself.  But this being an Easton Synergy SE16, the most powerful hockey stick in the world, and would explode in my hands if I were to cross-check you in the head, you’ve got to ask yourself one question:  “Do I feel lucky?”  Well do ya, punk?

In what is really just a formality, Bobby Ryan and Kris Versteeg were announced as finalists for the Calder Trophy along with the winner Steve Mason. Why Kris Versteeg got in when he had something like 10 points in his last 30 games, versus Pekka Rinne who nearly caught Mason in terms of comparable numbers [...]

The Dispatch is reporting that Derick Brassard has been cleared for contact. He will not be in Game 3, but Game 4 is looking very good.  If you're up for a long read, I recapped my moves/thoughts and strategies in one of my keeper leagues. You can find it HERE  I am about 99% certain [...]

Edmonton's new coach

The playoffs have truly started as many playoff poolies are beginning to see that it’s not necessarily the “big named” favorites that are the top-producers during the playoffs but the quiet achievers that can also get the job done. Anyhoo, as the playoffs begin for 16 teams, the other 14 teams will be looking towards next season. My hometown Oilers have already begun that journey by replacing long-time bench boss Craig MacTavish following a disappointing end to this season.
